That is what happens when you have no bid contracts and no real oversight. The greedy politicians and their cohorts are getting richer and richer at the expense of our men and women in the arm forces and their families.
Who's guarding the store? Somebody allowed this to happen. No way someone can submit a million dollar invoice on a forty-cent item without someone in authority approving it. Somebody got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and now the pentagon and those in power will be looking for a scapegoat.

It is easy to see what the Government was trying to do, it is just that so many people in business cannot be trusted this way. It would be nice if the government could work with them in an honest fashion, but time and again these owners show that they cannot be. Just like in Nam, and during the years od Carter, and other presidents, they just keep swindling the government, and the tax payers along with it. Hopefully they can get the majority of the money back from the auctions. I think that this should be more than the fines and the 20 years, they should make it 50 years for this per count.
Modern, I do agree with that, as it does slightly fit the bill, at least enough for me. But you know some liberal, would cry a bleeding river over killing these crooks, and want them freed after stealing from the whole of the country.
Is the post office much better? I just sold some items on ebay. The shipping was 12.00 by regular ground parcel post and 14.00 by priority mail. The customer thought I made a mistake. How can they ship an item by truck but deliver it by air and special handling for only $2.00 more? UPS would cost about $6.00 more but then they make a profit and don't charge the losses to us.
If all or a substantial portion of the money was given to groups or persons for the purpose of inflicting violence on the Armed Forces or the people of the United States I might agree with the treason charge, otherwise the charge wouldn't hold water.
Now what I would consider is using this incident as impetus for the passing of a federal law that creates a special category of fraud for those who defraud or steal funds from the federal government (and tax-payers) and making that crime subject to stiffer penalties depending on the dollar value of the fraud. I would also urge the various state legislatures to do likewise to cover the state and local levels.
Who learned from whom? Did the insurance companies learn how to charge $20 for a bandaid from the government or did the government learn their tricks from the insurance companies?
It seems like DoD is just trying to make the ship outs as expeditious as possible. Entire vehicles..and thereby squadrons/missions can be held back by a simple yet vital component or part. When we receive our parts we screen it for proper i.d. and integrity. Baking in 119F+ we rarely paid attention to the price. Us aircraft mechs would always joke around about the ridiculous prices the GVNT pays for simple O-rings, gaskets, screws..etc(15$-$250) but those shipping prices are just retarded. I'm glad the people/person responsible is "getting it with no lube"

I could see sedition as well, with life imprisonment.
Sedition; An illegal action inciting resistance to lawful authority and tending to cause the disruption or overthrow of the government.
As this act would be an illegal action to cause a disruption of the government.
