Once again, parents are in a tizzy about their kids being able to read adult content on the internet.
"What if my child registers as an adult? What if my kid just claims 18 as a real age?"
First of all, the Internet is an adult venue. It works best as business access. It is NOT for children, any more than alcohol, sex or driving are for anybody but adults. But how to keep your kids off what they shouldn't be playing with in an adult world?
It's real easy, folks. If you don't want your kids reading adult content on -- for instance -- Gather:
TEACH YOUR KIDS NOT TO LIE.
If I'd gone ANYWHERE when I was a bratlet and lied about my age to get something only adults could have, I would be sitting here DEAD. My mother would have read me the riot act so bad I'd still be hiding under my bed. My dad would have been slipping off his belt.
If your kid gets on the internet when your back is turned and says he's 18, and sees things you don't want him to see --
YOUR CHILD DOES NOT RESPECT YOU, OR YOUR VALUES.
That's YOUR problem. Deal with it. If you're a good parent, you'd not want anybody else to deal with it, either.
