Each and every year, in each and almost every city there are things that happen. Things such as fairs, fireworks, parades and what not. Usually around these events there are commercials, newspaper write ups and things warning the public there will be added law enforcement in such areas. They do this for people's safety!
I live in South Dakota. Recently the Sturgis Bike Rally took place. This morning, I opened the paper and was reading along. The stats for the Sturgis Bike Rally read like this:
5 people died in motorcycle related accidents
86 injury accidents
329 DWI arrests
55 felony drug arrests
259 misdemeanor drug arrests
18 vehicles seized for drug possession or altered serial numbers
At least 1 concealed weapons arrest
(stats published in the Aberdeen American News)
Now, I look at that list and can't help but say "what the heck were they thinking?". Did they never turn on the news or read a paper. Heck in June, July and August all we hear about here is added partols. Locals know not to drink cause your off to jail, should you drive. We've all seen drug arrests and drug dogs. They do spots on t.v. What makes people think they are special and can get away with this?
Maybe I am ranting. Maybe I am cranky this morning. I see no excuse for those stats. Accidents happen. I will give them that. The rest there really is no excuse for. Drinking and driving is a crime, drugs are illegal and carrying a weapon is a crime without a proper permit.

The people, who get arrested deserve to be arrested.
I think it's great that the stats are published!
I'm glad the stats are published too. People do need to know what is going on.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that when a large population engulfs an area that the police are going to be present to keep the peace. It is sad that events sometimes result inmany deaths. Thanks for the article!
