Please explain, why the facination with Elvis?

Elvis was human, and being human he shared with the world not only his amazing talents but his frailties as well as his compassion, generosity and he, unlike a lot of superstars,was truly down-to-earth and not an arrogant snob.


I had been to Graceland and stayed at Coco Palms in Kauai where he also stayed and where the wedding scene in Blue Hawaii was filmed.

Elvis was a great singer, no question. But he is dead admit it or not! Let him rest! And most of the imitators aren't very good!

I love Elvis, He was the most amazing singer, and versatile I have ever heard. I did cry when they televised his last concert. He looked so aweful, I cried. I really dont think they should have aired it

Way to go Lyndon! I loved Elvis and always will. He was so talented and humble! I seen him in concert 3 times and just as wonderful as I had ever imagined. I have been to Graceland and miss his music and voice everyday. He was an icon and a legend and he will live forever in my heart. I would also visit if I had a chance. I also went to his home in Hollywood and have pics of it. At that time he was still alive and we weren't allowed to go in but it was wonderful anyway. My son-in-law is and Elvis impersonator here and is actually quite good at it. He looks very much like the young Elvis and sings very well and even plays the guitar, but he is definitely not humble like Elvis nor does he have the perfect personality and charm that Elvis did. Elvis was one of a kind, to millions of people, and we can't all be wrong. No one can ever take his place.

I used to love all those cheesy, delightful movies in my youth....I can take of leave "ELVIS" the institution and the memorbilia..but he still makes a lot of people a lot of money.....

elvis...man....I dont know why he has managed to be just as popular now as he was then. I went to graceland and I really enjoyed it and I was like 10 or something so thats saying a lot.

I wonder if the Presley family will have anything to say about this.

Growing up in Memphis we heard of all the nice things he did for people. And he did a lot. He seemed to enjoy being kind and generous. His heart was big. I never really got into his music, just a little too young. The Beatles hit when music became interesting. Now, though, some of his songs really impress me. But we were always impressed with his kindness and humbleness.

If it had not been for Colonel Tom Parker Elvis Presley would be a footnote in the history of popular music. He was a wonderful singer and a decent actor, but compared to Buddy Holly or Roy Orbison not much.

I always enjoyed Elvis' music and movies, but I fail to see the fasination people have for seeing everything the man wore, lived in, etc. Why do people have to worship the stars? They are humans with the ability to sing, act, or play an instrument. So why do people worship them and not someone who has the ability to paint a beautiful picture, or carve a beautiful statue.

My younger boy (nearly 14) has quite an interest in Elvis--from a historical perspective as well as in the music. He'll be glad to hear this and add it to his list of must-see destinations!

My older sister graduated in 1957 when I was 3, she was a huge Elvis fan. I heard all his music as well as the other great rock and rolls hits of the time as they came along. That little phonograph had a lot of miles on it.

I didn't know about the Palm Springs place that Elvis had, I'm sure people will go nuts over it.

Actually his last concert was in Indianapolis, IN on June26,1977. I was there and yes he was bloated but that did NOT effect his singing. His last televised concert was in Omaha, NE earlier in June. Yes you can say he was just a man. All I know is there was almost a glow surrounding him as he took the stage. You just couldn't take your eyes off of him. I had to make myself breath. If you never got to see him you wouldn't understand.

Certainly will be more convenient for me to see that one than the one in TN.

That would be great, could mess up their living though having people walk through while you are living there.

Dan, you just don't get it. Either you love Elvis or you don't there's no real middle ground.
