What a jerk!
There are well over a hundred geese out on the lake in front of my place today.... apparently they are discussing their plans for their trip South. Every once in a while, a gang of them takes off and practices flying in formation; there seem to be 4 groups, each made up of 3 or 4 smaller family groupings.
They're noisy as heck today - but they aren't HURTING anything.
Apparently one of my neighbours doesn't agree. He just took his boat and drove right into them - like he was bowling, with them as pins. Didn't hit any - just sent them all flying off in a big noisy cloud - but they turned around and came right back - at which point, he turned around and took another run at them. Big macho man, he is. His momma must be so proud.
Imagine he doesn't like them much because his is one of the lawns they like - DUH! All it takes is a narrow strip of weeds/longer grass at waters edge - we get nesting geese in our buffer zone, but they go to the golf course lawns to feed - and to poop. Serves him right!
Here comes another flock flying in to join them.... its a convention! Got to be over 200 now.

Is this the same guy that you complain who mows his lawn every five minutes?
he just went through again ... this time they all flew away :(
But I can sympathize with the neighbor. We had a huge population of them on the lake and all around and they were actually having to close down beaches because of health reasons from all the goose poop!
Buffer zones also greatly improve water quality - unfortunately a lot of the newer folks up here don't ~get~ that either - or just don't care.
We don't usually have this many all at one time though.
hubby's been talking about selling this place ..... I'm not enamoured of the idea... not so much the thought of moving... but I would HATE to see that some citiot had come in and cut everything down and made a golf course of it

In my experiene if you tick them off to much they can get very irrate!!
I have to agree with Chip!! I hope he doesn't have a gun!
That said, I hope the guy's engine gets ... fowled! HA!
