After working only a week.. unemployd again!

Came home today and found an email from the woman who hired me who doesn't think its going to work out and she's let me go.. Now mind you I did make some first week mistakes but give a person a chance! 

Any way.. does anyone know if I have to go through unemployment all over again?  I only worked a week.. 

This has really solidified my desire to return to school and become a teacher. Two strikes and I'm out!

i don't know how unemployment works. i'm sorry you lost your job. maybe you were meant to go back to school!

I guess all states are different but I would imagine if you reported yoru job and terminated your unemployment, you will need to start all over. As far as I have ever known the is a max on the weeks a person can collect! I wish you luck in this all the way around.

I'm not sure, but I believe you have to have had worked a certain amount of quaters in one peiord of employment to collect benefits. By accepting the job you were just laid off from, I think would terminate any beneifts that were still due had you remained unemployed and because you weren't on the job long nough, would determine you ineligible, but I could be wrong, each state has different rules and requirements.

Sucks that you got laid off, apparently those mistakes were some doozies to your employer and it happens, we've all done it from time to time, but perhaps going back to school is the path that you should continue. Or become your own boss, start your own business! Whatever you decide, best of luck and try to keep a positive attitude, it ain't fatal and tomorrow will almost always be a brighter day!

Sorry to hear your misfortune but as long as you unemployment compensation from your previous employer hasn't run out, you are entitled to get back on where you left off.

Don't tease us, tell us the mistakes and what all went down.....

What kind of mistakes did you make on the first week? Was it mistakes that could get you unemployed? Sorry you lost your job though.

Some of the mistakes were my fault.. i sent out an envelope without a zip code and it came back, other mistakes were prior form mistakes.. i just copied them but it comes down to the fact that altho i have 30 years in NY law, FL law is so different i can't market myself down here.. so I'm looking towards a career change.. maybe sales.. or going back to school..

We are all human and we make mistakes. Your mistake was minor. Good luck with your teaching career. Seems as if it is meant for you to carry that out!

Let's face it, it wasn't the place for you to be. If it's right, it works out. You are being guided to something more satisfying and with those who can appreciate your gifts. Keep me posted.
