It was a cold and stormy day ...
Really it was...
And our planned trip was to the Coney Island Aquarium! And we went anyway!
Only two kids showed up, myself and the other teacher and her mother. So adult to student ratio turned out to be 3:2.
We had decided to leaver early as it was a LONG subway ride. We took a train practically to the door of the Aquarium - we got a quick glance of th empty beach and the ocean before turning in at the entrance.
I haven't been there in years, and it seems as if they've added a lot to the exhibits. There were some amazing jellyfish, beautiful coral reefs, slow moving sharks. The beluga is gone and due to the rain, there was no seal show. The otters were feeding while we watched - wonderful creatures. The starfish and seahorses were in amazing variety.
We had gotten our pictures taken and bought the "souvenir shots" - two 5x7 and two key chains (for the kids) =$28. (We'd spent a long time in the gift shop and found NOTHING we wanted.).
We walked a bit down the Boardwalk, went into Nathans to eat. The food made the others happy - not me. I've had better, much better.
Another LONG train ride back into uptown Manhattan and home.
