Today is Janelle M. (egnahb)’s birthday, as the custom goes, Janelle, our little song bird has prepared a little celebration of her life for us to share on her birthday with her. Here is her story.
I am married and have three children.
I own my own business. I dabble in lots of things.
I started writing when I was four years old and never stopped. I have always written for pleasure, although even small royalty checks are a kick!
My mother first inspired me to write, but I quickly became fascinated with the written word. I was known as a book worm very young. I would frustrate my family by leaving incomplete stories on the table. When they would ask me for the rest of the pages I would have to tell them I hadn’t thought it up yet.
Traveling is actually my number one, all time best hobby. I like meeting new people and exploring new cultures. I do not mind a lot of the inconveniences other people find annoying while traveling. I have met some of the most amazing people on my travels by simply being there.
I enjoy watching old movies and classic musicals. A cup of coffee with an old friend is the best.
My number one pet peeve is people yelling at other drivers when I am a rider in their car. I am the only one that can hear them so I kind of take it personally. I guess dishonesty, phoniness - that type of thing would be my second pet peeve.
I do whatever I can for the homeless in our own country and believe we can not do enough to protect and resurrect innocence for our children. I have also been pretty outspoken about my concern for the people of Darfur, not only because of the atrocities, but because no one is able to get in to the area to report what is happening.
For important events in my life I know it sounds corny, but it really is incredible giving birth to three children. Besides that, I would say my chance meeting of a Buddhist monk in Japan/staying at his temple was inspiring and there were some rich panhandlers in San Francisco I found enlightening. I know the death of my mother at a young age was important and I have lost some other good people along the way. I have learned just as much from the ugly events tossed my way as the beautiful ones.
I always have one dream or goal posted above my bed. Right now it is still a transatlantic cruise since I don’t want one where I fly to a port in Europe, Greece, etc and then take a ship back. I want a full, round trip, there and back cruise. Ha! It may be up on the ceiling for quite a while.
My favorite birthday memory is the year I got a pair of white boots as a child.
Nuh uh no way, I am not giving out my birthday wish. It has been the same one for quite a few years now but it won’t ever come true if I tell! :)
Here is a link to an excerpt from my book. The second edition will be done by the end of this month but this story gives you an idea of some of the fun in the world of Egnahb.

Oooooo, I get to do my own song! As most of you know I love Riding the Notes. Here are links to two of my favorites.
This first one just perks me up whenever I need it.

Note to the birthday club members. If you have not yet submitted your birthday dates to me please to so. I need to prepare well enough in advance. Furthemore, when I send you the questions to do your celebration I need to have them back, at least one day prior to your birthday.
And this one is my birthday song
