Right now I am enjoying both aspects of Gather, the socializing and the points. I try to read a person's profile, but am finding that many people haven't filled theirs out! I like to know a little bit about someone before I "connect" to them on here. If no profile, I glance through the content they've posted and see if we think a bit alike, or like some of the same things, or are going through similar circumstances (parenting, etc.).

I always put in why it would be nice or easier to connect. Usually, so I can find their articles easier if I like what I have read previously.

I usually take the time to reply to the personal note. I feel that is a really friendly way to start a connection. Kind of neat.

I'm fine either way as well. I try to add a little note of my own when I am making the connection request, but it depends on how my brain is doing at that moment. Sometimes, there's just no way I'm going to come up with anything worth bothering to type in. :-)

I love getting notes from connection requests. I like to see what articles they've written and check the profile for things in common.

I usually just comment on other people's posts, post some previously published writings of my own. I read who my people have posted to and go visit. If I'm interested, I comment. If the person I comment to asks for a connection, I go visit them and read their profile - I usually accept. My points are around 452, which shows I'm not in it for the points.

Gather is just a nice pace to visit, chat, write, read what others write. I visit more frequently lately since being downsized in May of this year.

I am fine with people just connecting with me, but I most love when people leave a little note as to why they are connecting. I prefer that because I know WHY they wanted to connect.

I guess I don't go through a process deciding who to connect with. If I think their recent tags seem interesting, then I tend to accept quicker, and notes for sure get almost auto-accepted!

does it really matter, if they don't say do you choose not to connect and if they do say they will probably have a good reason so you connect, so it really doesn't matter.

I enjoy getting connected too and sometime wonder why some just drop without saying a word,, but I rather not be connect to those, just connect to those who care about me and like me for who I am, and not what they want me to be

I like the little notes, because its kinda like the introduction to them. Other wise you just kinda dive into the articles and you then learn about them, with the note thing, they can already tell you a little bit

If it's a name that I'm not familiar with from commenting or reading their articles, I check out their profile/connections to see WHY they want to connect if they don't state so in the request. I'm choosy as I want to keep my number of connections small and manageable. I can't possibly keep on top of all my connections articles and images if there are too many of them.

I like the added feature of the note. It tells me why the person wants to be connected. According to the TOS, they have to have commented on something you posted before sending out a connection request, so the added note tells me which post they enjoyed and led them to want to be a connection.
