Whoa! Hot, hot, hot!

Here I sit at 10:30 AM Central Time.  It's getting hotter by the minute.  The trash men came about 30 minutes ago, and I don't even want to venture out for the cans!  Today will be 100.  Tomorrow is to be 102 or better!  Okay, it's August.  Hot and humid is normal, right?  I wonder.  Do you wanna see my next electric bill?  I don't!  Since our van is older than time, and the A/C died three years ago, we stay indoors or shop at night!  Thank goodness the heater works great in the winter!  Or we'd never go out!  LOL  Oh well, our local pharmacy and supermarket deliver free!  No pizza delivery though!  Yikes.  Wishing everyone a cooler day!

I'm sorry! We had our heat wave in July - it got to 110 degrees! We are in a cool wave now - our highs are 85

Try living in Orlando right now; consecutive high 90 ish degree days. To top that
off, the air conditioner in our house gave up the ghost last weekend!

Hi Kelly. Yes, but Nevada is desert, isn't it? Expected to be really hot? You don't get our humidity do you? Just curious.

I hope you stay cool. Its hot here too but not as hot as where you are. The dewpoint was 70 at 5am, if you understand anything about dewpoints. That makes for a very miserable muggy day.

It's monsoon season here in AZ, so temps and humidity are up. But it's nothing unusual for us this time of year. That seems pretty hot for AR, though, and it must be miserable with your high humidity. Is your area a part of the country that is experiencing this unusual, massive heat wave? Some of the eastern states hit 111 and with their humidity that had to have been a health threat to many. --- You're smart in staying indoors and shopping at night.

Yes Brenda, it's been important (due to my husband's ill health) to know about humidity and dewpoints.

Tanya, yes, we are part of the heat wave. Today is to be 102 (who knows what the index will be!) and tomorrow it's to be 104! This is to last until next Tuesday here! I can't believe it! My biggest worry is a power failure. Everyone is using A/C to the max. If our power goes out, I have to bundle my husband up, oxygen, wheelchair and all, and get him to an emergency room. They have generators!

We've had a good summer here in Michigan. It will get hot and muggy for a few days and then cool down again. It's not the heat here that does us in - it's the humidity.

It is the humidity Bobbi. Dry heat would be so much easier to stand, and less work for the A/C!

Seen this was a couple of day ago but it is hot in Ar.! WOW! My Mom lives their and she said it's a nasty day their today with heat once again!

Here's an update! It's now Friday the 10th and our new heat advisory has said we can expect 100 - 104 through next Weds. at least! I can't believe it! It keeps getting extended! Yikes....I had to call in a prescription, that I cannot run out of. That means traveling during the day to Wally World which is about 25 miles from here. Even if I go in the morning, it's still going to be a bear. I really dread it.

My neighbor down the road called about 11 this morning to tell me our mail was put into her box! So I walked down the hill to get it. Then I had to walk back up! The shade was NOT on the street yet!

I know how you feel.The air broke in my car too.Ordered pizza the other day and have to get out early in the morning or late in the evening or night in this awful heat.

Kim, oh gad! Another with no car a/c. Here's an update! Thurs. Aug 16! Still in 100's today. Such a long time we've dealt with this that I am beginning if it will ever end, LOL. But, tomorrow is to be a cool 99! Can you believe it!
