John Edwards says he wants to get rid of lobbyist. While that sounds like a good tagline lets take a moment to think about that. Yesterday he talked about how we should be creating more unions. So he wants to get rid of the labor lobby right? Does he want to get rid of the AARP because old people dont have needs? A normally dont agree with Hillary as I have said before but, at least she has a realistic approach. There is a time and place for lobbyists as they do represent people. The importance is that they don't have undue influence. I think Edwards is a little despearte to find a niche in this race now. It is not 2004 anymore.

There are lobbyist who represent a group of people, such as nurses, children, diabetics, asthmatics, etc....who do good for those they represent. They help bring attention to their cause. But when they start having to pay for that attention, it becomes murky at the very least.
I couldn't agree with you more. The trouble is, that is what capitalism is all about, greed. consumers have to pay more, because CEO's and shareholders aren't happy with a 100, 200% or higher profit. The want to sell us a widget that cost them 1.50 to make, for 10.00, 15.00 or more. Did anyone notice that within 1 year after Sam Walton died, that Wal Mart dropped it's "made in the USA" ad campaign. Buy from China, profits are higher than ever. And what comes with all that too.
