Hillary at odds with Obama over Presidential Run

The New York Times today has a story about how the relationship between Hillary and Barrack Obama has changed since Obama decided to run for President.  Before he decided to run Hillary was supportive of Obama and she had fundraised for him and he went with the Clintons to New Orleans after Katrina.  But, when it came time for Obama to make a decision for himself Hillary was mad that he choose to run which could have an impact on her.  This quote I think says it all

"The relationship began to change when Mr. Obama began musing aloud about a presidential bid. The day he opened his exploratory committee, several Senate observers said, he extended his hand and said hello on the Senate floor. She breezed by him, offering a cool stare."

 I believe this says everything about Hillary.  She though she should be the only one to seek the nomination.  She is not tolarant of an exchange of ideas, she just wants to be President.  Hopefully Americans will see her for her true character not the one she puts on the public stage.

The last paragraph of your article is all speculation. Of course, Hillary doesn't need the distraction that Obama brings to the table. She is the better candidate. I'd like to see her go all the way.

I still can't believe she was elected as a senator from NY, why didn't she go home to Arkansas and serve the people from her home state?

She is running for President of the United States not Class President of her high school. There should be distractions and debates on issues. She dosent want to have to get in debates on issues because she might have to tell the public how she feels about an issue.

Fine, Modern, but that doesn't mean that she needs it. I think she is holding her own quite well. She has put her positions out there for all to see. I don't believe that she is holding back like let's say Mitt Romney.

I am glad that you posted this article. It seems if Hillary doesnt get her way, she pouts or has tantrums. Maybe, now we know why Billy boy , seeks out other woman. I have never liked Hillary, would not vote for her. I think she is fake, she only says, what the public is in favor of at the time. I cant believe that their are people in this country, that cannot see her for what she is. I dont think a person that loves being in the limelight, has to be number one and is power hungry will make a good president. You do have to strong and assertive at times to be president but the items that she should be strong about, she is weak in,such as homeland security, just like her hubby was on defense. Bill Clinton gets credit for the economy but wasnt it actually Greenspan who did all the budgeting?

Not exactly. Greenspan was the the official fed watcher - nothing more nothing less. Bill Clinton engineered economic policies that brought about a balanced budget, welfare reform, and the final budget surplus. Bill Clinton gets the credit because that is what he did. Hillary will do much to end this stupid war in Iraq and even more about terrorism throughout the planet. I believe in her. She has the experience and the credibility to lead. I'm sorry that you cannot see it.

Joe, I agree with you on Mitt. He just moves with the wind. But, you are slightly off on your take on Clinton. If you look at a lot of the books detailing the Clinton Administration you see that. He eventually took Greenspans advice to try to lower long term intrest rates by reducing government deficets. But it wasn't unitl he had a Republican Congress that progress was made. It was the adversarial nature of the system that allowed them to stop expanding spending. The final factor was the growing economy made it easier to achieve a balanced budget because revenues were increasing rapidly. Bob Woodward Chronicles it expertly when he tells the story of Bill Clinton playing Golf when the budget office tells him he needs to come back to Washington to meet with Congress otherwise the budget would balance itself. He then came back to Washington met with Congressional Leaders and they declared victory over balancing the budget.

I am in complete agreement that the Republican Congress was successful in causing the right amount of tension for Bill Clinton to do the things that he did, Modern. I just can't agree that the country suffered because of the Bill Clinton presidency. In fact, the entire eight years were a time of prosperity. If you couldn't make it in the 1990s you just had problems beyond repair. Today, the middle class is demoralized with the need to work three jobs to recover what was lost due to the tax cuts and corporate irresponsibility of the past seven years. When we had a Republican in the White House and a Republican Congress there was only one veto. Where is the balance of power in that? Sorry, but Clinton's presidency goes down in history with a much better record than George W. Bush's.

As to Hillary. Go Hillary Go!

I dont think the country suffered. But, Hillary is no Bill. She is not a Clinton democrat. She has a much more socilized vision of America. I tended to like and agree with many thing Clinton did. Make people work on welfare and it be temporary. Hillary unfortunatly does not follow in the same vein. Sometimes you have to look beyond last names for policy choices.

She will not roll back welfare reform, Modern. She is more hawkish than you might think. She isn't really for socialized anything as she is bed with the insurance companies and lobbyists. I think that is a good thing. GWB doesn't offer anything but excess. It hasn't been good for the American people. We need a fresher administration that will at least care about the public good. I believe we will get that with Hillary. I don't see Obama as ready for the job. He'll get his chance I'm sure. The Republicans haven't come up with a good candidate, yet. There is still time. In the meantime, Hillary is our best shot at a decent country.

Joe, her rallying cry is shared prospertity and ending the ownership society. The fact is when you look deeply she is for socializing. From Medicine onward. It could be just now while she is in the primary and will move back to the center

Clinton did nothing for the economy, but rode the wave. The economy started to build before he was president, andn started to fail during his second term. The rise and fall had nothing to do with any President, but the Dot.Com boom that was poorly managed by many companies, and overly invested in by other companies and investors.

Because her home state would not have even voted for her, they (her and Bill) were wanted out because of all the criminal actions that had been committed while they were there. New york was the only place she felt safe in trying to con her way in, and won.

Modern, I agree with a lot here of what you have said. If any one will ever make major changes to this contry as far as it would seriously effect our constitution, it would be Hillery. She is 75% socialist, and 100% con-artist.

The US Constitution is already eroding under GWB, Dan. Sorry Dan, but the balanced budget was Bill Clinton's idea and he provided Congress with one from year one until he left office.

His plans spent more than they helped, if it had not been rising two years before he had taken office, we would have been a lot worse off. And in fact he refused to heed the warning of ever one about the pending collapse of the economy, leaving that to "as will happen" when Bush took over.
Clinton had been warned from 1995 threw 2000 about it, and never made one move to brace the country for it.

I suppose you need to believe that in order to support GWB. It's not true. The tax cuts did more to harm our economy than anything else. The middle class is taking it on the chin, my friend.

Its not the tax cuts, It is more the war spending just to be honest. Without the war we would have a surplus. There was also this thing called 9/11

There are a number of people who will react very differently when someone moves from simple collegiate to potential competition. Especially in today's political environment where everything you say or do will be used against you on the campaign trail. I've seen a lot of people act this way when competing for a position, both in politics and in social situations and they can be the nicest people otherwise.

Modern, that is very true, but you missed the massively increased oil costs as well that OPEC has raise drastically in the past years which followed the rise of our economy.
The DOT Com Boom thrust billions of dollars into the economy of many countries, and the US reaped a large amountg of that. We also had more poorly run online businesses with heavy backers than any other country, so when the economy did fall, we were hit the hardest. Clinton was told repetedly about this, and he refused to deal with it. With 9/11, it push the suppected time from 2003 to 2001 that the economy collapsed, and to be honest, it should have went a lot further down than it did. So if anyone deserves credit for good manuvering of the economy, Bush should get it. One of the few correct things I have seen him do.
