Before I began writing my first novel, entitled Parallel Opposites, I took inspiration from several movies such as 21 Grams, Mulholland Drive, Training Day, Dancer in the Dark, Requiem for a Dream, The Hours, and I'm sure there are others that guided me into a certain subconscious route. I also took inspiration from a few books before the idea finally came to me. Two of the most significant books I recall were The Hours by Michael Cunningham and Another Country by James Baldwin.
Needless to say, I became a little enthusiastic about the new solo piano recording of The Hours from Michael Riesman. I had already listened to Philip Glass's orchestrated work used for the movie, along with another of his solo albums while I was writing. In fact, The Poet Acts I'd often put on repeat as I gathered more from the story that would in effect write itself from what I was writing.
I'm also enthusiastic about letting you know about this excellent album. You may preview it on Amazon and I'm sure it's available at Borders. Really, it's an emotional work from something of literature we should be honored to read and watch. It hit an appropriate time for everyone back in the year it was made (2002?), and simply its message is love, just as my work tends to be.
When I read articles about tragedy in a person's life, I must confess that it rarely if ever would effect me, because throughout that time that I was watching these movies, I had incredible faith in people and in God and in our strength to overcome difficult times. I began to believe in reincarnation, and there has been no worse of an effect on my life, when it should've granted some significant peace of mind. There are times when I think the bad stuff that happens to us can really damage our souls, but I have carried this faith in people and in God throughout these times in my life, enough that music like this is certainly something to help guide us away from doubt and toward that faith, if not faith in ourselves, then faith in others and in God.

Not to put too much of a damper on it, but unfortunately, others will let you down. They might not do it on purpose. But humans are human. We even let ourselves down. But faith in God is never misplaced. Keep trusting that He has only good intentions toward you and that He'll see you through when others fail. It's a great outlook to carry through each day.
I love piano music and wish I could play better, but will take a listen to this album.
