Barack Obama Being Backed by Giuliani's Daughter

The daughter of Republican hopeful Rudy Giuliani has signaled she's backing

Democrat Barack Obama for president.

According to her Facebook profile, Giuliani's 17-year-old daughter, Caroline,

belonged to Democrat Barack Obama's Facebook group "Barack Obama

(One Million Strong for Barack)." She left the group Monday morning

after the online magazine Slate sent an inquiry.

Her profile can be viewed by Facebook users who have access to

New York City's Trinity School or Harvard University networks.

Caroline, who is Giuliani's daughter with his second wife, Donna Hanover,

recently graduated from Trinity and will attend Harvard in the fall.

Slate posted a screen shot of her profile, which uses a slightly different last name.

She lists herself as having liberal political views.

I am a member of the same group, and you can go in and find me under
"Bay Area for Barack Obama". She could NOT have made a mistake. Joining those groups are completely voluntary. No solicitation, and definitely no coercion.

She put him just where she wanted him - shamed him. This is very sad that this little girl has to resort to this to get attention from her dad. Shame on him.

Mabey she just thinks Barack Obama would make a good president. Mabey she has the same views as him, which could differ from her fathers. It dosent always mean there are issues at home.

Regardless... think back to Ron Reagan Jr. Talk about a flaming liberal, and what bearing did that have on President Reagan? None.

I agree with Lisa in that just because the two may have different views on issues, does not automatically mean troubles on the homefront. Look at Arnold and his wife Maria, related to the Kennedy family and happens to be Democrats, but Arnold does seem to in the middle of the road on some issues.

Maybe she values the views/beliefs that Obama holds as those of the future and a different approach to the issues/problems facing the world now. No one knows, except for her.

First let me state that if Guiliani had any respect for his children he never would have brought his mistress into their home....the best thing a Father can do for his children is to love their Mother.

Having said that....His daughter took her Mother's name of Hanover and goes by Caroline Hanover in response to Guiliani's shameful past. I don't blame her one bit!!

We are supposed to set good examples for children and I don't think Guiliani has done that for his children.

She definitely did the right thing by pulling out; how embarrassing to her father. On the other hand PJ has a point, the child is probably hurting and lashing out at him in the most effective way she knows how. When you are reared in a political family you learn the dirty political tricks. She got him, and Man oh Man, did she get him good.

I feel for both of them. I just hope the media leaves her alone.

I remember living and working in NYC when Rudy was mayor. The way he dumped his wife was horrible (she found out he was filing when he held the press conference, announcing it - he couldn't even tell her beforehand.)

Personally, I hate Rudy. Always have, always will. I say that if everyone in America could have "experienced" Rudy on September 10, 2001, their opinions of him would drastically change.

I think the fact that Giuliani's daughter may support Barrack Obama is proof of good fathering not a broken home. She is obviously a free thinker if it is true and has the self esteem to intellectually agree with her father.

Jeff: Very interesting take, and one with which I agree. Kids aren't born just to become "yes-men" to their parents. Whether you agree with her decision or not, she IS entitled to it like every other American.
