Have you ever been in an earthquake before? What is your experience with them?..

Here is a site where you can get updates on US earthquakes as they happen. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/ I have been getting them for quite some time and i get them for around the world too.. It is really interesting how many earthquakes happen on a daily basis.

My one experience that I remember with an earthquake was back around 1986 or so. I was living in Monticello, Indiana and home alone. I had just come back upstairs from changing the laundry loads around to watch some more television. The house suddenly began to tetter totter back and forth like a giant was making it sway back and forth on the foundation. At first I was scared to death and wondered what I had done to the washing machine as at the time I did not realize it was an earthquake.

My experience was about that time frame also, I was living in Nassau County- LI , NY. ..but to be honest..I was drinking that night- so I really never recalled the tremors felt!!The floor was shaking for me already.

Actually we have, they had one in Ohio and we felt the shockwave here in Davison MI. My wife was setting in a chair and it shook the chair a little..

I live in California so I have had my share of earthquakes but coming from being brought up in North Carolina, trust me, I would take on an earthquake over a tornado any day! Most of the earthquakes are very minor and I have even slept through some!

I was in a earthquake in I think early 90s. I was in 8th grade and it was during spring break. I suddenly woke up at like 5am and sat straight up in my bed and realized the room was shaking.( I lived in Portland Oregon at the time and had never been through one before) I remember being told to run to a doorway or whatever so thats what I did. When I got there no one else was in their doorways. "I yelled what the hell is going on" I was scared I was having a seizure or something. Suddenly my mom comes running out of her room into my sisters room to get her away from the window. It shook for a little while and then stopped. It was like a 5.something. They now refer to it as the Spring break quake, lol. Thats the only one ive ever felt.

Interesting Lisa.. Where I have lived, they do not teach you how to react in an earthquake.. I know what to do in a tornado though... funny what they teach you in different areas.
