I hope you read my first rumor that has been confirmed as true by at least one member of gather. Well, here's a second part. I also heard that Borders will soon begin selling downloads in their brick and mortar stores. I've already seen Sony ereaders on display in their stores. Have you heard this also, and how will it impact the industry? How might it affect prices of ebooks? I think if the ereaders become more reasonable in price, the ebook industry will take off. Give us your comments and inside knowledge or just your opinion.

Can you read and listen to ebooks on the Ereader? If you can do both, it will be awesome. I'd be interested in looking at one but am not in the market for new gadgets.

It stands to reason that if they sold the readers and the ebook downloads, it could do nothing but help the ebook industry. I never did get a comment back as to wether Gather people thought I should go back and have my two currently published books rereleased in an ebook format. Has anyone done this and had success? Advise me as to if 28 Days in the Coke Works (2004) and 97 Evergreen West (2007) would benefit from this type of rerelease.

J.G. Weddle, it can't hurt. A lot of people prefer E-books. Sure doesn't take much space to store a reader.

As far as Borders have dowloads in their B&M stores, the one here in Metairie, La. is already doing it. They are a test store. So I guess it depends on how well the test stores do.

I'd love to have one of the Sony readers, but that's a bit out of my beer pocketbook range.

I actually haven't heard this rumor, but let's hope Borders aren't "ebook snobs", meaning, I hope if they sell ebooks in store, they don't "shun" the little guy epublishers. I wonder how they determine which ebooks to sell? Probably the publishers who are already distributed in print through Ingrams.

Which means me publishers *should* be included in this endeavor. That is, if the Grand Pubah at Borders believes the little guys should be given a chance too... lol

I adore ebooks and buy bunches of them, but won't be buying the Sony reader. My PDA works just fine, as does a Blackberry, or any other handheld. If they make it exclusive readers with proprietary software, I won't be in on it. I'll stick with Mobipocket, thank you very much, which has one of the best readers around.
