A Butterfly that may be Fluttering Above My Ankle

Here is a photo of the butterfly that I have been contemplating having tattooed above my right ankle.   I would want the blue to fade into purple along the edges. 

My sister is paying for my tattoo.  It was her gift for my 50th birthday.  She said I must think about the butterfly I choose and not be in a rush to get it done.  I must be 100% sure that it will be the one I want fluttering around on my body on a permanent basis.

Well, the butterfly is lovely, but as my orthodontist and reconstructive surgeon have both said... "Once you are post-puberty, the body doesn't deal with these things too well." One was talking about my teeth being extremely painful with braces, the other was teasing me post-liposuction.

That said, had I invested in medical lasers twenty years ago, I would be rich from all the maturing individuals seeking to have their tattoos removed. I'm afraid that beautiful butterfly will sag into a droopy moth.

Thats very pretty Sarina. Let me know how it goes after you get it done. I want to get one too but I'm sure you probably know what I want.....a black labs head.

I have chosen the lower leg for that very reason Paige. I see many who get them in areas that tend to lengthen with age.

I will keep ya posted Brenda. My sister still wants me to wait it out a little longer.

Very pretty! 50 huh? I was given a tattoo also from my kids just last year..I'm 55. Good for you!

That is a beautiful butterfly and it is so light in color that it will look great on your lower leg. Hope you enjoy it. When are you having it done?

Go for the tat! I got my first at 42 and my second at 46. I want another and I'm 52. My first is two shooting stars that come out of my left bra cup. I always say that when I'm in a nursing home, it will look like Hailey's Comet...with a tail as long as a kite.

I have shown the butterfly to my hubby and he does like it. He has come around. I have been told that I need to wait for a bit before having it done. My sister said I have to be happy with my choice as it will be around for the rest of my life.

Ina, at least it will be a celestial formation.

well i have 3 tatts and I didn't get my first one until I was 35. then i got my eyebrow pierced for my 40th birthday! I say go for it and be prepared to be addicted!

Paula, I have been looking at other butterflies that I could add. Hubby may object, but I think it would look lovely. But, first, I need to get the initial one done.

Oh Sarina! This butterfly is beautiful and with
your favorite colors! I love it and hope you will
be able to stand the pain while having it done.
ooopsy, maybe I souldn't have said that but I
think you should know what you're in for ok?
Your birthday gifts still are waiting for you and
remember I want to take you out for lunch at
the Chinese restaurant, maybe Michelle could
join us that would be great I think!

I think the butterfly is pretty, but what matters most is what YOU think of the butterfly - since you will be wearing it... You will have to post pics once you get it :).
