DOORMAN'S CREEK by Lea Schizas
Review
Night after night, the same nightmare haunts Susan Anderson’s dreams. In it, her husband, Richard, dies at Doorman’s Creek. Susan and Richard’s fifteen-year-old son, Kyle, and his friends plan to go to Doorman’s Creek, where they have discovered a cave they want to explore. Susan is worried because a few years ago two teenage girls were found dead in that area, bite marks on their necks. The suspect, old man Doorman, disappeared not long after the murders occurred.
Against Kyle’s mother’s advice and promising his parents they’ll be home by six, the boys set out on their adventure. But Kyle has a strange vision when he enters the cave. Who, or what, does he see? As the story progresses, he has other visions, as well. Do they have anything to do with the murdered girls?
Are Susan’s nightmares connected to what happened at Doorman’s Creek? Do her dreams about her husband’s death come true? So many questions, so few answers. A skeleton, missing girls, and unsolved crimes make for an exciting read. Plot twists and turns along the way keep the reader guessing until the very end. I thought I had it figured out. Boy was I surprised. Perhaps you will be too.
Ms. Schizas has written a lovely story of adventure, mystery, and family for readers of all ages. Join the Andersons in their quest for the truth. You’ll be happy you did.
