Hello God, it's me again. 2:00 a.m., Room 304.
Visiting hours are over, time for our bedside tug of war.
This sleeping child between us may not make it through the night.
I'm fighting back the tears as she fights for her life.
Well, it must be kind of crowded,
On the streets of Heaven.
So tell me: what do you need her for?
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever.
But right now I need her so much more.
She's much too young to be on her own:
Barely just turned seven.
So who will hold her hand when she crosses the streets of Heaven?
Maybe because you asked Dan; I don't know.
The only other songs that may be close to tear jerkers for me may be any number of Alison Krauss songs.
"She's Gone" use to make me cry after I broke up with my first love; Jennifer years ago.
After listening to it a million times it still sends shivers up my spine when the Angels come. A must listen to song
Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carrol..a song about child abuse:
My little girl asked me why everybody looked so sad
the lump in my throat grew bigger
with every question that she asked.
Until I felt the tears run down my face
and I told her that Alyssa wouldn't be at school today
'Cause she doesn't lie in the classroom
she doesn't lie anymore at school
Alyssa lies with Jesus
because there's nothin' anyone would do
i can't think of the name of it, but it's about a girl who has cancer and goes to prom with a shaved head....made me cry like a baby!
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin,
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh.
Na na na, na na na na, na na na, hey Jude...'
McCartney/Lennon
Paul had gone out to Julian's home to see and comfort Julian and his mother, Cynthia, after John had left their home. On the drive back, Paul started Hey, Jules which eventually became "Hey, Jude." Cynthia said she has never forgoten "this act of incredible kindness" by Paul.
Good song too Nan! C):-)
Beatles
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly
{Refrain} Why she had to go
I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong,
now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
{Refrain}
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Mm mm mm mm mm
Crazy,
I'm crazy for feelin so lonely...
I'm crazy,
Crazy for feelin so blue...
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted,
And then someday, you'd leave me for somebody new.
Worry,
Why do I let myself worry?
Wonderin,
What in the world did I do?
Oh...
Crazy,
For thinkin that my love could hold you...
I'm crazy for tryin,
And crazy for cryin,
And I'm crazy for lovin you...
Crazy,
For thinkin that my love could hold you...
I'm crazy for tryin,
And crazy for cryin,
And I'm crazy for lovin you...
(Little rosa was her name and still I cry in vain
My world won't be the same since she's gone from me)
I have gone to visit the grave of a friend of mine and as I walked thru the grave yard
I noticed this man kneeling down by the grave of a child
And in his hand he held a big red rose and tears were streaming down his cheeks
I walked over and laid a hand on his shoulder and started to talk to him
And during the course of our conversation and in his broken english
This is the story just as he told it to me
He said to me mister I've walked down the street today
And I passed about the big flower shop
I walked in and I asked the man in the shop I said boss how much is for one red rose
Then he looked at me with one big frown and he says it's one dollar please
But in a buyin' buyer was well dressed blonde lady walked in
And she says how much is for one red rose
And he looked at her with one big smile and he says ten cents
Now I said boss how come to you to charge me a dollar for the rose
And you charged the young lady only ten cents
Then he said look mister you tell me why you want the rose
And maybe I give it to you for not
I said boss I'm a hard working man working a railroad and gonna make too much money
And I got a little girl and her name was rosa o rosa's just about this high boss
Every day when I'd come home from the work
A little rosa come running to meet her papa
And she'd throw her little arms around my neck and say papa and I'd say rosa
But one day boss I've come home from the work I don't see rosa
I looked down by the railroad track and I see one big crowd
I'd go down and I pushed the crowd this a way and pushed the crowd that a way
There was at my feet lay my little rosa and that's why I want the rose boss
I wanna put it on little rosa's grave
Then man he didn't say not but he picked the biggest and the reddest rose
And he gave it to me
And I said thank you boss thank you very much
And though she's gone you see she's still the world to me
To me she'll always be that little girl of mine
We were out on a date in my daddy's car
We hadn't driven very far
There in the road straight up ahead
A car was stalled the engine was dead
I couldn't stop so I swerved to the right
I'll never forget the sound that night
The screaming tires the busting glass
The painful scream that I heard last
[Chorus]
Oh where oh where can my baby be
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
How You Gonna See Me Now - Alice Cooper
They make me cry like a baby! Heres How You Gonna See Me Now
Dear darlin' surprised to hear from me?
Bet you're sittin' drinkin' coffee, yawnin' sleepily
Just to let you know
I'm gonna be home soon
I'm kinda awkward and afraid
Time has changed your point of view
How you gonna see me now
Please don't see me ugly babe
'Cause I know I let you down
In oh so many ways
How you gonna see me now
Since we've been on our own
Are you gonna love the man
When the man gets home
Listen darlin' now I'm heading for the west
Straightened out my head but my old heart is still a mess
Yes I'm worried honey
Guess that's natural though
It's like I'm waiting for a welcome sign
Like a hobo in the snow
How you gonna see me now
Please don't see me ugly babe
'Cause I know I let you down
In oh so many ways
How you gonna see me now
Since we've been on our own
Are you gonna love the man
When the man gets home
And just like the first time
We're just strangers again
I might have grown out of style
In the place I've been
And just like the first time
I'll be shakin' inside
When I walk in the door
There'll be no place to hide
How you gonna see me now
please dont see me ugly, babe
'cause i feel like i let you down
in oh so many ways
How you gonna see me now
Please don't see me ugly babe
'Cause I know I let you down
In oh so many ways
How you gonna see me now
Since we've been on our own
Are you gonna love the man
When the man gets home
A PICTURE OF ME WITHOUT YOU
Writers Norris Wilson,George Richey
Imagine a world where no music was playing
And think of a church with nobody praying
Have you ever looked up at a sky with no blue
Then you've seen a picture of me without you
Have you walked in a garden where nothing was growing
Or stood by a river where nothing was flowing
If you've seen a red rose unkissed by the dew
Then you've seen a picture of me without you
- Chorus -
Can you picture Heaven with no angels singing
Or a quiet Sunday morning with no church bells ringing
If you've watched as the heart of a child breaks in two
Then you've seen a picture of me without you
Repeat Chorus
Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town
Kenny Rogers
Music & Lyrics : M. Tillis
You've painted up your lips and rolled and curled your tinted hair,
Ruby are you contemplating going out somewhere?
The shadows on the wall tell me the sun is going down,
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town.
It wasn't me that started that old crazy Asian war,
But I was proud to go and do my patriotic chore,
And yes, it's true that I'm not the man I used to be,
Oh Ruby, I still need some company.
It's hard to love a man whose legs are bent and paralyzed,
And the wants and needs of a woman your age really I realize,
But it won't be long, I've heard them say, until I'm not around,
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town.
She's leaving now cause I just heard the slamming of the door,
The way I know I heard its slams one hundred times before,
And if I could move I'd get my gun and put her in the ground,
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town.
Oh Ruby, for God's sake, turn around
All alone, I didn't like the feeling
All alone, I sat and cried
All alone, I had to find some meaning
In the center of the pain I felt inside
All alone, I came into this world
All alone, I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water, baby
Sand and water, and a million years gone by
I will see you in the light of a thousand suns
I will hear you in the sound of the waves
I will know you when I come, as we all will come,
Through the doors, beyond the grave
All alone, I heal this heart of sorrow
All alone, I raise this child
Flesh and bone, he's just bursting towards tomorrow
And his laughter fills my world, and wears your smile
All alone, I came into the world
All alone, I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water, baby
Sand and water, and a million years gone by
"Last Kiss", only I didn't know who did it! Thanks for sharing!
Old man Wrigley lived in that white house
Down the street where i grew up
Momma used to send me over with things
We struck a friendship up
I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing
Says he was in the war when in the navy
Lost his wife, lost his baby
Broke down and asked him one time
How ya keep from going crazy
He said I'll see my wife and son in just a little while
I asked him what he meant
He looked at me and smiled, said
I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see
Oh i believe
Few years later i was off at college
Talkin' to mom on the phone one night
Getting all caught up on the gossip
The ins and outs of the small town life
She said oh by the way son, old man Wrigley's died.
Later on that night, i laid there thinkin' back
Thought 'bout a couple long-lost summers
I didn't know whether to cry or laugh
If there was ever anybody deserved a ticket to the other side
It'd be that sweet old man who looked me in the eye, said
(Chorus)
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you
how to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps . . .'
