Sandia summer....

Birdie! is it too early to submit for August 9's Thursday Writing Essentials?

I saw your lemon cucumber submission.....they looked a wee bit like watermelons.....and I came up with this......

Sandia Summer

The summer slips and drips,

through our sticky, sandy fingers,

as we share the taste of sweet sandia

seasoned with the salt of our skin...

as the sun slowly....surely...sets....

the heat singes the moments

and leaves sweet sandia smiles amongst the ruins of the rinds

La Bellota, I LOVE it!!! I live near Sandia Mtn, of course, in NM (well, as close as anything is in NM I guess). I'll feature it next week! : )
