Were you or are you a tomboy (for the ladies)

I was a tom boy, yes, I know it is hard to believe. I played softball and football with the boys until I started to high school. I could throw and run just as well as they could. Never was into dolls in a big was, but had my own ball glove when I was 8 and in those days there were not any teams for kids under high school age. Maybe that is why when I was 13 I ws invited to play on the town's womens softball team. I played 4 yers of basket ball in high school and letteredf every year.
That was considered enough for sports for girls in the 50s, at least in my school.

BTW, I am still very interested in motorcycles and motorcycle racing, and auto racing,especially NASCAR. I watch ESPN and SPEED TV all the time.

My wife is a tomboy,,,oldest of 3 girls,,raised on a farm,,,,
so is my little leann...they became independent women quicker, too!

Yes i was a tom boy, still am I guess if you call martial arts tom boyish. My two girls are both, but when they were little they were tom boys, martial arts for them as well 18 years of it. so they still are both as well.
Is the term tom boys, girls that are agressive?

I never really considered myself a tomboy per se but I wasn't opposed to playing with my younger brother, getting dirty, etc... I was never into sports and did like feminine clothes and toys.

Yes, I was very much a tom boy. at least until I fell in love for the first time. I still did some tom boyish stuff, but acted more feminish. I consider myself a complete lady now. I raised my daughter to be both when she was little. I didn't wan't her to be a sqeamish girly girl or vain. Now she is neither a lady nor a tom boy. She is what she calls a 21st century woman. Ugh.

Funny thing is my sons have my collection of Matchbox cars!

No, I was and still am a girlie girl. My daughters are a mixed lot though.

Not a tomboy

When I was in elementary school I was a tom boy and had no desire for frilly dresses or other "girly" things. My mother forced me to take a tap dancing class weaing my cousin's shoes that were way too small for me, to try to "make me into a proper young lady." I hated the dancing class, hated wearing the shoes, and hated my mom for making me go to the class and for not accepting me for who I was. Since that class, I never had an interest in dancing and never learned to dance. My passion has been my love of animals and animal rescue and my love of learning Spanish, and my love of doing volunteer work. I am married, raised 6 kids, and have 11 grandkids--and I don't own a dress or skirt. (Except my son insisted that I wear a dress to his formal wedding and I gave in on that for his benefit.)

yep, I was a tomboy. I used to fight my brother for the G.I. Joe figures until Star Wars came out, then I was addicted to Star Wars. In High School, any boy that tried to take advantage of me got beat up. Badly. Nobody touched me without my permission, EVER. I had a bad attitude - I was stubborn, independent, and refused to let anyone walk all over me.
To this day, I'm still independent, stubborn and refuse to let anyone walk all over me. My boss loves the fact that I am NOT a "yes-man". If I think he's making a mistake, I will tell him so. With me, he knows exactly where I stand and doesn't ever have to worry about me not giving my opinion. :-D
I can remember my father telling me when I was in Junior High School that I couldn't walk "that way". My strides were too long and it wasn't lady-like. I laughed. I thought it was the most absurd thing I'd ever heard. My poor father had NO IDEA what to do with a hard-headed daughter. I must have been the source of serious ulcers when I was a teenager! Poor dad. There's a special spot for him in Heaven for being my father, I'm sure!

Never made it to tomboy status, but I always wanted to be!

I had brief moments of tomboy behavior, most likely because I grew up on a farm and had three older brothers. But all in all, I'm all girl, all the time.
