What August means to me - what does it mean to you?

When I was a child August was the last month before school started.

When I was 21, August was the month I married my first husband (which didn't last more than 4 years)

Now living in Florida August means holding your breath while hurricane season kicks in.

What does August mean to you?

For me, August is a month of birthdays. My dads would have been the 6th and my grandmas would have been the 31st. They are both passed on. My sisters birthday is also this month on the 20th. Plus I have a few friends that celebrate brithdyas this month too. Its also one more month before school starts. I can't wait because I live with a 15 year old who is driving me nuts.lol

My two sisters have their birthdays in August, plus it is the state's fair - the Ekka! One public holiday in the middle of the week. Nice.

For me August used to mean that summer was almost over and try to get into the mind set of having to get up early to go back to school.
These days it usually means the 100 degree days will be starting...yuck! We've been lucky thus far and have a considerable amount of rain so haven't gotten too hot yet.
August is one of two months in the year where there are no special occassions, birthdays or anniversaries to have to buy gifts for - yahoo! Then in October the madness begins...
