I'm from New York and I always get angry when I'm walking in the streets of Manhattan and the tourists and looking up with thier cameras and taking photographs. They stop traffic.
Well, this coming weekend I'm going to be a tourist in Philly. I'm visiting my boyfriend for the weekend but he has to work, so I decided to go see all of the historical tourist attractions in Philadelphia that I've never seen before.
I know I have to go see the Liberty Bell but I'm not really sure what else there is to see, although I've heard it's a very historical city.
Can anybody suggest any great tourist-y things to do in Philly???? Please make sure you keep me in safe neighborhoods, as I know Philly is not the safest of places, and I will be touring alone.

Philly is like NYC, there are unsafe places and safe places. Philly as a whole is not unsafe. It would be like someone saying they don't want to go to NYC because all they hear about on the news is Hell's Kitchen.
i am going to give you web site to look at rather than tell you. some fun places to go and see in philly. don't forget the market !!

Do NOT waste your time with a car. Buy a SEPTA day-pass. They're $5, and you can ride any bus or subway all day. The liberty bell is in old city (5th street), and the Franklin Institute is on 20th and Arch streets.
You can also go to the Mummer's museum; South Street (an eclectic shopping area); the Art museum (a few blocks from the Franklin Institute); the Please Touch museum; the Philadelphia zoo; see a Phillies game in South Philly (take the broad street line to the southern end, and it plops you right at the home plate gate). We're also home to Betsy Ross House, Edgar Alan Poe House, and the infamous Graterford prison where famous people like Al Capone were once inmates. You can eat in Chinatown (between 11th and 9th street on Arch/Race streets), or go to 9th and Passyunk in South Philly for a world famous Pat's cheesesteak - complete with the concrete foot impressions of sylvester Stallone where he filmed a scene of Rocky. Have a great time!
