OK....this is really annoying and not fair

This d-word person again flagged an article in which I asked a q. on how to stop someone WHO WAS NOT LISTENING TO ME in my group posting instructions. I did NOTHING wrong. All I did was post and ask for ideas on help.

Well, along comes this flag person again. I have an idea who I think it is and I think it is a guy.

On this particular article. Well, this is wrong. People can just come in and do this and you don't get to know who it is.

I did not do  anything you dumb )(##)$ person. I stated in the article that I NICELY more then once asked the person in q. to PLEASE stop posting here as it was a group for grandkids and baby pics. They refused all of my nice attempts. I told them if they continued I was going to talk to someone. I did and they did nothing.

So, again this person continues to submit material NOT of group nature. I write an article to ask for help on how to get it stopped, and got some good answers by the way (thanks all) and I GET FLAGGED. What the heck.

When I find out who it is let's just say they can reap the wrath of the red! I'm sick of this.

I can't understand why they flagged you at all.
Can't you delete someone from your group?
I'm not sure, never looked to see but it seems like if they are continually doing the wrong thing in your group that you should be able to do that.
I don't know what to do about the flag person.

I don't think this person in q. is in my group. I'm pretty sure the one who flagged me is NOT even in it. Thank you though for writing Faith.

Dont if you get flagged gather will check it out and see if it needs removed before just doing it? Thats dumb if not! That means anyone can flag anything and it be removed.

Aww, Maybe you should think about deleting this person from your group. Can you do that? Or maybe you should change the group to moderated so you can accept or decline the articles that are allowed in. Good luck Lora.

Yes Lynn and Faith I did not realize until you all mentioned it that I could go in and do that. I just tried it and hopefully I did it right and it will stick. Tiffany, it does seem as though that is the way things are looking.

I agree with Heather that there are always some who want to ruin it for others. They want to have their way, and if they can't, they call foul.

I think a person has to be a member of your group before they can post to it. You can delete his/her articles as they are posted as a group owner, too. As far as the flagging goes, anyone can do that I guess. I've never done it so I'm not sure.

I can't believe that article was flagged. I didn't see anything wrong with it. Lora, I hope all of this gets resolved soon.

I just went in a read the article so it's still viewable.

I think something needs to be done about the flagging and the ratings. But I'm just one person in a sea of many. :)

You tell them, Lora! Yes, that's what I hate most of all -- all those little mean and petty power games. Like, gee, I think I'll just start a group called 'Reject All Articles' so I can have fun dumping your best work! I had one that I wrote on asthma once rejected -- even though my recommendations had actually CURED me! Ah, venting feels good. At least you never accidentally almost flagged your own article as "inappropriate" -- as I once did when I was suffering from "vanishing page syndrome"! Just keep plugging away, and dump those web weasels!!

Yeah Janet and Lynn. I did not harrass the guy. Just stated the facts. That he kept posting other material not related to my baby group. I wrote him a couple emails in private first nicely asking him to stop posting his writings/junk on my group that is for either grand baby pics. or pics. of little kids or those who have them. He kept posting news articles and exercise stuff. Junk like that. Well, after four or five times I got tired of telling him you know.

Take it as a compliment that this person finds it necessary to consistently stalk you. They obviously think you are a threat to them. So keep doing what your doing and every time they do this to you write an article thanking them. You'll get the points and the last laugh.

Lora. I for sure emphathize with you. I am having some of the same trouble with one of my groups only it is about seven people who keep ignoring every single email and post about inappropritate posting to the group. I even wrote an article about it. Whci some are reading now per request. I am very frusterated with this. I am sure you are too. I am seeing more and more rude people on here and there is no need for it. I might just have to ban those who insist on posting and hope some will post to the group appropriately. It is a challenge group. I have two other groups a couple people there keep posting things that don't belong. One political agenda and the other one religious. It makes me so mad. I here you a lot.

I think it is just plain rude to publish an article that has nothing to do with group content. I love my freebie groups but there have been a lot of articles published to them that have nothing to do with a link for a freebie to get in the mail. :-( It is sad to have to put your group on moderated just so that this doesn't happen. You think people would be more considerate of that and practice appropriate publishing?

If this person who flagged you isn't even in your group, that is going to be a hard one to deal with.

Another Gather suggestion would be to add the ability to block certain people from even viewing your articles. (a block list) Maybe you can with the feature of who can see your article when you publish it?

I actually wondered when I read your article if it would get flagged. You didn't say anything wrong, or harrassing, but anytime here that you mention someone's name, and it isn't to praise them...you open yourself up to be flagged. I don't think it should have been...but, I'm not surprised because that's the way it works around here all the time. Sorry...they will probably put it back up because it wasn't harrassment.

really sue? cause people do that to me and they do not get there article flagged. thank you (I mean seriously) for that information. It is still wrong though. I mean the guy had all the chances in the world to just listen to me. Gather staff refused to help. I just wanted to keep my group with the theme. Others need to listen he is not above the rules. I did try a couple suggestions though so I hope they work.

Same thing happened to me today. I summarized and used some quotes from an article I saw on cnn.com. I cited the article and cited the people who said the quotes as per the article. I was flagged as copyright stuff. This is BS. People have too much time on their hands!

What surprises me is why anyone would want to post to a group when they have been asked not to. I have made a couple accidental posts to the wrong group, and a couple times I thought something did fit the group but the moderator didn't. I was embarrassed, and really afraid to post to that group again. I don't know why the guy doesn't just stop it.

Some people just like to know they have to power to bother other people and get to them. Just try to moderate your group so you then have the power to post it or not. Good luck!
