In the past two weeks here in Dallas there have been thousands of plants found by police helicopters patrolling the county line. It seems that "someone" planted thousands of plants on county properties just off of one of the state highways. The plants were literally growing like "weeds" amongst the other plants and trees. The news reported that the police helicopter found the plants while flying overhead, but from my point of view how could they have distinguished what was really growning there with all of the other green life there? I feel like there must have been someone who blew the whistle on these "criminals".
Last night, I was having a hard time sleeping as usual and thought I heard loud voices outside. It was around 1:30 a.m. CST and all of a sudden I saw lights shining through my second floor bedroom window. I immediately jumped up thinking it was an ambulance and that I should go see if it was a neighbor I knew that was in distress. At the same time I heard the helicopter overhead which is always a sign of police looking for someone (I only know this from watching Cops and all of the other police shows that I am addicted to).
I got to the window and saw that instead of an ambulance that I had expected, there were several police cars surrounding a pickup truck. As it turns out there were also undercover cops in an unmarked pickup that had followed this other pickup into the neighborhood. My view was obstructed by a huge tree in the front yard and decided to go out onto my balcony to see what the scene was all about.
When I got to my balcony to look out, the police had taken two young men, and two young women out of this big four door pickup truck. They were all asked to stand against the truck with their hands up while they were searched. The cops were very respectful and seemed to know that not only I but others were watching. They then finished their search of their persons and were promptly handcuffed. Four of the police officers with bright spot light looking flash lights commenced the searching of said vehicle. They searched and searched for what seemed like an eternity until at last they found their pot of gold. Out comes a gallon size baggie full of what looked like to me, marijuana. I would imagine that in my humble estimate, was about a pound of pot. They also found a little black puppy in the truck.
The four young people, whom I had never seen before, were quickly put into police cars and taken away. What a horrible thing to happen to four young people or anyone for that matter. I know where they were going, but what about the poor little pup? During this entire time the young women just sat on the curb calmly while the police searched the vehicle. I wondered how they could have possibly stayed calm during this? I would have been bawling my eyes out at the prospect of going to jail, or even being stopped by the police or being handcuffed at any age and more so as a teen...
The war on marijuana is alive and well in Dallas, Texas. And how was your weekend?

They caught a couple of people here with over 10 kilos ( 1 kilo = 2.2 lbs) of cocaine.
As for the dog, it most likely went to animal control and the stoners should have known better, it's called "occupational hazard".
I agree...they four were either stoned or have been through this before.
I just feel sorry for the pup.
:)
Thats alot of coke but have got to tell you about my coke story...

You're right about marijuana users not getting busted for doing any of the things you mentioned...calmness is the word...
As for the poor pup - yea, he's probably at the pound.

You're right, it wasn't easy trying to sleep through all of the lights flashing and the all of the cops talking and it looked like a carnival all lit up like that.

It is not uncommon for parents that smoke weed to neglect their kids, and spend more time with their smoking and drug buddies than their kids. So the saying that "You don't hear of marijuana users robbing, stealing, prostituting, neglecting children, and sometimes even killing--just for another hit. " is bunk. A drug isd a drug, and all kids pay for it.
Thanks for the comments!
As for the drug being a drug unfortunately we are going to just have to agree to disagree on this one. I know firsthand that one can be successful in business on a national and international level and still being a social smoker of the illegal God made weed. I formed my corporation 17 years ago and have worked as an Interior
Decorator/Consultant/Facilities Rep/CEO & President of said corporation. I graduated from college in Europe in 1980. I started smoking marijuana in 1975 and have continued to do so since then. There is nothing wrong with my business and most people don't know that I smoke, but my Parents do and accept it. I advocate the legalization of marijuana use and the use for medicinal purposes as well.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
I too feel bad for the pup - but the humane society in Dallas is huge and has alot of room so I'm not worried about him not gettin proper care at all.

Weekend good. California the same -- a marijuana haven.
Thanks for coming by!

As for your not being surprised if it was illegal immigrants that had planted the marijuana on county land - honey, we are FAR from the border here in Dallas (have you seen a map lately?). Furthermore, I don't think that illegal immigrants would have the "cojones" (you have two of them) to do something this daring.

While your immediate dealer may only sell pot, someone up the supply chain is supplying all kinds of drugs that eventually reach our children, and I do have a problem with children doing drugs or alcohol. Someone up the supply chain is running an incredibly violent cartel in Latin America, responsible for needless murdering of any innocents that get in their way. The solution is to legalize it. Then you're taking the power away from the real criminals who are making the big bucks supplying the dealers. We've moved toward that direction in California, but the federal government has stopped us. We've also tried to introduce stricter regulations on polluters, but the federal government again is trying to limit our ability to do so. We'll accomplish both goals someday, not because California is superior to the rest of the U.S. in any way, but because we're the first to have these kinds of problems, so it follows that we'd be the first to try to solve them.
Congrats on your Interior Design firm. If you ever need any paintings, let me know.
The children do suffer from this business which is a sad shame but they also suffer from alcohol abuse at the hands of family members.
I know the marijuana laws in California are not as stringent as they are in other states in the nation. I appreciate the stricter laws on polluters too.
As for my Design firm - I'm always looking for new vendors from which to choose from. I do buy art and art pieces from alot of diffent sources from people that I don't know, better to know someone and buy from them. Do you have a catalog?
Thanks for your comments!
I too agree with you in regard to the police going after real criminals. Theres so much more they could be doing to be combatting big crime instead of going after marijuana smokers and growers. I don't agree with them growing on county land but must give it to them for their ingenuity...lol!
These kids will get time if not for good legal representation, and if they have prior offenses. If they haven't been in trouble before they can probably count on probation, all except the owner of that pound they found in that truck of course. They must do something to him to castigate him to make an impression on the public.

I have had the police come to my house at night, barge their way in, make me stand outside in 20 degree temperatures with a light rain falling (after having been bedridden with pneumonia for the three days before that and still with a very high temperature and coughing) with NO COAT OR BLANKET IN SHIRTSLEEVES and, when I asked politely for a jacket that was hanging on the back of the front door, I was told to "shut up" while THEY SEARCHED MY HOUSE WITH NO WARRANT and then handcuffed and shoved into the backseat of a patrol car (STILL WITH NO COAT OR BLANKET and NO HEATER ON) -- UNTIL -- almost an hour later, they determined that mine was the WRONG HOUSE because they were "spot checking" a young man who was on UNSUPERVISED PROBATION (no probation officer present during search) who was meeting all of the conditions of his probation -- that lived at the end of the driveway...
P.S. Do you give Designer discounts??

Here is what's happenin' now. Folks buy pot that has loads of seeds in it. They don't want to get caught with the seeds, that can lead to hard time. So, they sort the seed from the weed, and they toss the seed outa the car as they drive along the road. It sorta grows when the weather is right.
I hope I see the day when it is legalized but with all of the conservatives against it and their supposed knowledge of pot, we probably never will. So sad.
Thanks for your comments, and sorry that had to happen to you!
Hey, where did you go to high school? I'll tell you why I asked when you answer my question ok?
Peace out and thanks for your comments!

I have mixed emotions about the pot. I am a recovering alcoholic/addict. I have been clean/sober for 6 years now. So, while I really enjoy pot, and any other chemicals I could come across, they are not part of my life anymore.
I also have a friend who just recently died. She was 50 years old. She was a daily pot smoker for many years. She died of emphesema. The effects of pot on the lungs is very damaging after a long period of time. Especially given the fact that many pot smokers, hold the smoke in the lungs when inhaling for a better high.
Just my thoughts on the subject. Great topic for conversation.
