Dear all, Â
It has been more than a year since the day I published my very first article on Gather. I must admit that when Leah first invited me here, I was somewhat reluctant to participate - because I doubted my capabilities, because English wasn't my first language, because I had so much other duties and responsibilities to take care for... etc., etc. But then I did find courage – or audacity – to post my “Russian Liberalâ€Â piece – and never regretted about it, being so deeply, thoroughly moved by your warm welcome and your responses. And now, in anticipation of this special day, I want to honor and congratulate you all – those whom I knew since the very first days and those whom I came to know just recently, but who have managed to quickly win my heart, nevertheless. ;-) All these months, you were a source of great support and inspiration for me. Each of you is an unique, interesting personality, with your own talents, with your own inner world. I love you all dearly and owe to you much, much more than I could express in words, whether in English or Russian…. I wish I could meet you – each one of you – someday. Thank you for being there. Thank you for promoting the true “Gather†values – peace, mutual respect and genuine feeling of fellowship. You’re all in my prayers and in my heart – forever… Â
Hugs and blessings, as always –Â

Love and light
*(at you)
On this special day, I hope and pray you'll find a minute to drop a word of support and consolation to my dear Gather friend Barbra L. who has just lost both of her parents in a fire. This is such a terrible tragedy, and Barbra needs all our love right now. Please, check http://barbweloveyou.gather.com/ .

YOu may need to explain to people who have never studied Russian that /ya/ is treated as a single sound and is spelled with a single letter in Russian. (Similarly, in Korean, /ya/, /yo/, /yu/ and /yuh/ are separate letters and single sounds separate from /ah/, /oh/, /oo/ and /uh/ all represented by a tota of 8 separate letters in the apphabet, just as /ya/ and /ah/ have separate Russian [Cyrillic] letters.)
And, yeah, I use "ya" for я, "yo" for ё and "yu" for ю. To complicate things, "e" could stand for Russian letters е and э, and these are two different letters, with different pronunciation.
