I am so tired of laundry
teens leave it all over the floor
load after load
I don't want to do any more.
Never ending dishes
do they have to use every glass?
They seem to be so busy,
while I am busting my ass.
Garbage in the couch,
the table littered with empty cans.
Can't seem to put the Xbox controller down
to give their poor Mom a hand.
I have had it up to here
with these lazy teens.
Mom is laying down the law
and it is time for them to clean.

They need to do their OWN laundry.
It is a funny little poem, and mommas do feel so overwhelmed some times...but make them work, it's a wonderful remedy for laziness.
Your poem brought me a smile and great memories... thank you for that!
They learned to take care of themselves or to lead very boring lives.
I think you should enjoy the kids, but they should be able to clean their rooms, and do a few loads of laundry. I write a list and delegate, and that way they don't have to wonder. Also, it makes them realize that they do have to help.
My teen daughter does the laundry on two nights of the week until it is done. She is paid $15. to maintain the laundry. She seems to take pride in this. My eight year old son, he is responsible for the animals...making sure they are fed, water, etc. (I monitor...don't want him to kill our little zoo here...not good for self-esteem!) Good article!
I didn't mean to take the wind out of your vent!!!
My girl is worse than the boy. She does not want to do any chores, and she is so messy. I have to use rewards and consequences with her to just get her to clean up after herself!
Loved your poem.
