Taking a Trip...

Each year during my birthday week, which is at the end of August, I try to take a trip.  This year the money presented itself early so I've decided to go now and do a road trip for a week, maybe two if I can manage it.  I don't quite know which direction I'm heading.  Or I haven't made my mind up yet.  Someplace cool(er) I'm sure. 

I don't know if I'll be able to access the internet.  My laptop currently doesn't have a service provider so I'll only be taking it for writing.  Ideally, I'd like to find internet cafes where I can eat lunch or dinner and do the net briefly.  We'll see.

Won't be leaving until Tuesday or Wednesday as I have some things I need to take care of first.  If I don't get a chance to internet, I wanted to let everyone know what's up since my behavior and emotions have been all over the place lately.  Don't want you to worry (assuming you might) or wonder. 

Okay, here's a little game.  I live in northern New Mexico.  Which direction would you recommend I go and why?  And I'll even consider Mexico.  There are some lovely coastal towns there.

Sweet things, I will probably publish one more time before I leave.  Where do you think I should go - and please don't say hell!

Have you thought of taking the train? My Teenage Testosterone Twins reported that the train between Santa Barbara, CA and Kansas City, MO was the most reliable one. You could even go all the way to Chicago, wouldn't that be fun? Unless you don't like cities....

Alison, that's what Leslie meant. I really detest cities. I live in one now and am just biding my time until I can leave. Another year!!! I like doing car trips because I can stop when I want, wander off to out of the way places and generally do what I want when I want. But thanks for the suggestion.

Have a great time Sandra and enjoy. I've always loved Mexico, Arizona and Nevada so that's the only recommendation I could give. I've heard Utah and Washington are beautiful and would love to see these two states. San Francisco is supposed to be great for the scenery and weather. I'm sure wherever you go you'll find something wonderful.

Oh God, you are after my heart ~ I am such a sucker for road trips. We just get up and go sometimes ~ wherever the spirit leads. We came from AZ to Montana, and love both, but stayed here now on six months. Although I don't need it, there is an internet cafe in our laundrymat, LOL. You should be able to find one easily. I usually have. Have a safe trip and by all means have fun.

Sounds so nice. Just drive. My husband is very organized, but I would love the freedom just to set off and not know where I'll land.

I'll be down to just occasional gather visits too as my oldest son is home for a few days. And I've got a writers' conference to go to. Will look forward to reading about your trip when I get back.

I would say to head east toward New Orleans and avoid some of the deserts out west, but then you could drive right into a hurricane although there are non brewing yet. Or north to check out some little old country towns. I guess it really depends on what you are in the mood for. I would definitely not head to Mexico aloone.

I was going to suggest coming to visit me, but I live in one of the biggest cities in the U.S., so I guess that's out. Hots springs are always a wonderful to experience. THere are some in southern california.
