The Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League played a game of baseball Saturday evening and ended with a fantastic fireworks display. Flags were flown at half mast by order of the county executive in honor of the 13th member from Suffolk County who has died in combat in either Iraq or Afghanistan since 2004. The Ducks lost the game, 9 to 5, but the fireworks more than made up for a night of excellent playing by both sides. "Let me root, root, root, for the home team; if they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes you're out at the old ball game!"

You can see a whole lot of pictures from the game at my Kodak Photo Gallery.
