Bedspreads of moonlight, cover the fields,
Verse, sinuously awakes,
Affectionately drapes with its lush ivy,
Masonry of inquisitive thought.
Wind sings rhapsodies of perfume,
Gathered from meadows and fields,
Closet of night with dark cloaks,
Drapes naked pain romping confused.
Heartache and memory, a silent duo,
Often choose, rendezvous at night,
Consummate betrothal in solitude,
Shy of prying eyes.
Aquarellist tears leave edge of the lids,
Glide o'er the canvas of cheek,
Pause on the chin tentative,
Spill onto the chest relieved.
Moonlight and I, confidants of old,
Together wistfully confess,
Melancholy buoying up, vestigial passion,
Wily and wild, now indisposed.
Bathed by this mellow light I conclude,
Wolves howl for the moon agonized,
Fascinated by a mesmerizing love,
And claustrophobia that distance invites.

you are weaving magic in this moonlit poem! So many original phrases and images..all I can say is WOW!! and read this exquisite poem again and again.
Love the lines.
'Masonry of inquisitive thoughts' and
'Claustrophobia triggered by distance.'
Absolutely amazing !
Audrey - thank you, dear friend. Your encouragement makes it worth posting here.
and any love reminisced in the moonlight is magical... I wonder why the sun and its UV rays don't inspire poetry the way moonlit silver does..
beautiful vinay, this is the kind of poem one would read sitting on a window sill, looking out at the perfect circle of a full moon...
P.S. The last time I tried romance in "broad daylight" - even the sun screen didn't seem to work!! Just kidding . . .
I went in my flashback where once me and my hubby used to send love messages through moon..when you are in love moon always understands you.....
Bhawana - don't we all have some memory linked to the moon/moonlight?Glad these lines reminded you of a tender time in your life -
Julia - thank you - that was the most original comment I've ever had on any of my prevous posts on Gather.
