B-Dawg hit the wall AGAIN....

I was wrong....they hadn't gone to urgent care the first time (our suggestion), they went to the hospital emergency room, which was fortunately pretty close by. Back they went this morning at 6:30 a.m. B-Dawg wasn't getting better. He couldn't swallow anything; he couldn't talk; his throat was too swollen. He COULD at least breathe through his nose. This time the problem got solved.

This time B-Dawg was seen by an ENT (ear/nose/throat) doc. Apparently he had an abscess behind a tonsil. Because they went back to the same facility, they were able to pull up his records from yesterday and not have to re-do any tests. They lanced the abscess and B-Dawg got instant relief. He got a new antibiotic. And we got a call at 7 a.m. from C-Dawg and were able to talk to the woman doc.

Sometime during the morning the Dawgs had to deal with Italian Sister, who wanted to KILL THEM for not waking her up to go with them!!! They were her BROTHERS, HOW DARE THEY NOT WAKE HER UP!!!!!!!!  I knew all this because she and I happened to be on MSN chat at the same time in the middle of the day. I ended up sobbing online. It seems to be more stressful to Mom NOT to be with the sick child, than to be there coordinating B-Dawg's latest medical drama......

On the other hand, they have to grow up sometime........the three of them are in it together to give each other moral support, and B-Dawg has been this route before, so it's time to hand over control to him......he is 18, now.

 We just got the last e-room expenses paid off.......here we go again......but B-Dawg feels 95% better and can actually TALK again. I know, cause he just told me he loves me........oh nooooooo, here I go again.....

Oh my goodness! I hope he is alright for sure now. What a roller coaster ride of emotions this must be for you.

awww Alison ((Hug)) it's so hard to be a mom and let go. When I was 18, I got strep throat, didn't realize it (or possibly didn't care) and had the tonsil abscess and spiked a nearly 105 degree fever. Lucky for me, more rational heads freaked and I did get medical treatment. It's all learning steps, and they'll all work it out together.

Mine is 19, and I still struggle with letting go. He still lives at home and we go head to head frequently. glad he got the help he needed and glad they had the wisdom to do so. Control is difficult to let go of and they are giving you every reason to believe they are ready to fly.

Sara, I know what you mean, it has been like that for a while with B-Dawg at home (C-Dawg is usually off at college). I hope these travel experiences will bring home some life lessons to them all, as you say......ready to fly.

Thanks for asking, Sara......Just got an e-mail......"today was much better by far...." C-Dawg described the gory details of B-Dawg's procedure. They have been walking around Boston in a thunderstorm, all three of them....much less dramatic than the past couple of days! They are taking it easy.

Alison, I am so glad they had sense enough, or hurt enough to get that taken care of. Wouldn't you think the ER would have had him seen by an ENT the first time, It would have saved another visit I think. Oh , gosh , I know about the letting go thing, unfortunately, I did let go, but they keep coming back, I am the last word on almost anything, they think I wrote the book on what to do next, and my kids are all marreid over thirty years and more. But I still get the calls, I keep trying to tell myself if I didn't know about things I wouldn't worry, but then who knows, I don't thnk the mother thing ever quits, especially with sons. Happy you are feeling relieved tonight and don't feel bad for tears, you,ve earned the relief you get from them. Take care.

Thanks, Elsie. Their Dad had actually said they would have to go back if B.'s temp didn't go down, and he didn't feel better. Good advice! And guess B-Dawg had to show some more symptoms before they could figure it out. All's well that ends well--till the next crisis!

Your kids are lucky to have you and your wisdom, Elsie-- And so are we on Gather! Guess you would appreciate a break though, wouldn't you?!
