New Kindergarten Moms

I don't know yet about the kindergarten experience -- my daughter won't start until next Fall. But as far as taking pictures as they get on and off the bus -- that's not wierd at all -- it's a big day which deserves pictures! :-)

Ok thanks... Yeah I figure its once in a lifetime thing. They didnt go to preschool or anything like that. they've been with me from birth. so this is their very first day of any school. Just wasn't expecting my first experience to be with two of them!!

Take lots of pictures..

Ok I will..probably take pics of them ready to go to school (waiting for the bus) and then them waving bye. I just hope daddy is there.. some reason i think its going to bug me more than the kids. i know i sound like a big baby

No! It's not wierd! Take as many pictures as you can! It only happens once! One of my little ones starts K this year too.

This year, my youngest starts Kindergarten. Like yours, she is an older child, her birthday is December 27th, so she'll be almost a year older than the youngest children in her class.

Anyway, to the question about sadness- NO. For starters, she was in pre-school last year, so I already have had her away from the house. But beside that, I'm ready for a break. I'm a SAHM, and it's just going to be... very nice having a break every day. I can't wait until school starts up. ;)

I was in the same boat as your daughter Heather T. I'm a Dec 21st kid. So, I was the oldest kid in my class too. I think it was good for me in the long run. It was hard for my parents keeping b-day and Christmas separate.

I don't have any children starting Kindergarten this year.

What we do for birthday time, is celebrate hers in January for a party. My son's birthday is January 15th, so we hold their parties together. On the day of each of the kids birthdays, we give them 1 or 2 small presents, and get a cake for the family (or make one). That way, though, the birthday isn't ignored, but it gives us 3 weeks between Christmas and party. ;)

It's a mom thing! My son went to Kindergarten last year and I cried the entire time he was gone on his first day. I took pictures at home before we left, of him walkg to class, and of him getting out of school!

That's good that you can work it out celebrating them together like that Heather. I imagine our baby #4 and I will probably celebrate our birthdays together.

yeah..they will be taking a bus.. its gona be hard on me..but in the long run i think itll be exactly what i need..

My son's birthday is Sept. 9th, so he did not make the Sept. 1st cutoff this year, but I think this is a good thing, as he is having a hard time adjusting to Pre-K. I thought Pre-K was big, and believe me I took lots of photographs.

I had to be a tough mom though, because my son was very weary about starting Pre-K, because he did not know anyone, and because he does not speak much English.

Yes. My youngest started Pre-K this fall so I am child free for about 2 hours a day. I was definitely sad about it especially since she didn't even look back. My oldest cried the first couple of days when she started.

No. It's not weird to take pictures of them getting on and off the bus. My girls don't take the bus (I drive them) but on their first days of school, I take pictures of them eating breakfast, inside the house in their school clothes with and without backpacks & lunch boxes, outside in their school clothes with and without backpacks & lunch boxes, in the car on the way to school and then whatever I can get at the school. On the last day of school I take pictures of them coming out the door and at different spots at the school. So if anything, I'm a little weird. Take all the pictures you want of everything you want to their first day of school. Their very first day only happens once.

I found it a relief when mine went off to school....they were ready...and so was I...lol

hi, i ended up taking pics inside the house with their backpacks and lunches, then them walking to the bus stop and then them inside the bus.. not a lot but something. the first day was rough on me..i wanted to call them to see how they were doing..,i wanted them home with me!!! i had tears in my eyes when i was on the bus taking the pic. but today (third day)im loving the break hehe

My youngest just started kindergarten...I took lots of pictures but I think that is only natural. The quiet times at home while he is gone to school are sometimes hard to take but it's something to get used to. I need to learn to take time for myself now!

the only me time i get is when the twins nap..but hey its more than i used to get lol

i have a problem with wanting to get my daughter from school. i miss her! she has missed 5 days already and i've checked her out about 4 times (2 was this week)

wow lol... i got used to the kids being in school now.. they only go 2 1/2 days ( 2 full 1 half) and i wish they'd go 5 whole..i know im terrible

i took lots of pictures every year on the first day, all the way through high school

I hope to do that too!
