The hairstyles of the 70's were one of personal choice. I wore my hair long and straight. My mother loved the Afro. Not sure that my daughter liked the style.
I have some pictures myself with a great big Afro that I was very proud of. I pampered it and worked hard to keep it full and shining. Our hairstyles in the 60's did speak about where your head was at the time. Whether you were a square, or Hippy or into the Black Power movement. But it was more for fun then anything and making the old folks angry.
Ain't that the truth Mr Bill! But I kept that Afro for many years, it was very easy to care for; a little spritz of H20 and I was good to go. Of course I had my trusty hair pick right with me! My daughter Sarina and I were having a discussion about this Afro photo, and I said hey why not I looked pretty good back then, never thinking she'd find it! Find some other ones of me that you can post here, but make sure they are good ones I don't want any natty ones ok? I will bring you more points! Thanks
I never knew or saw anyone in my family with a 'fro. Not sure why. Maybe it had something to do with the fact our hair wasn't very plentiful or maybe just because it just took a lot of time to fix or keep up.
That was the style back then, I know a lot of people that did it to their hair and then couldn't wait till it grew out, lol. You look great here Barbara, Sarina, tell your Mom
I had this buffer pad for my polisher that I never used, so I died it black once and wore it as a hairpiece, but that's the closest I ever came. Just kidding...
