Book versus movie

I always think the books are better than the movie made from them, but which movie do you think in least true to the story in the book or written story. I was just watching Johnny Depp in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Not even close to the written story. Other movies that aren't even close are the Bourne movies, the third of which is being released in August. I enjoy the movies, but they're so different from the book without the similar names you wouldn't even be able to match them together.What examples can you think of?

I like the movie Hunt for Red October...it kept a lot in and eliminated some of the technobabble.

Hey, I hate to rain on this parade. But, Johnny Depp? Anything with Johnny Depp is better viewed. I can watch the man standing there, and pay the movie price!

On a serious note, I believe the books are usually much better than the movies, but I can't think of one right now. The exception: "The Secret Window" You have got to see that movie!!!

Macbeth movie was worse then the book

Stephen King's "The Shining" was a good movie, but it didn't follow the book.

Sometimes the movies are good even when they don't follow the book exactly. Daniel Day Lewis in The Last of the Mochicans for example.
James Bond Movies hardly kept to the same story as Ian Fleming had written.

Stephen King's Misery was a great axample. There were a lot of important details left out of the movie.

None of the Stephen King adaptions were any good. If you didn't read the story you wouldn't really understand the behind the scenes plot. Books are always better.

The book is always better. And I'd say I, Robot. It was essentially a different story than Asimov's book - which was a compilation of short stories. Luckily the movie said "inspired by I, Robot by Isaac Asimov". It sure wasn't BASED on it!

I can't think of any book that wasn't better than the movie. I guess the movies are good for people that don't read:)
