Crazy points

I'm wondering about the points thing here. Last night I commented on five articles and received comments from four people on my articles and I received one point. I don't usually keep close track, but the one point thing was so bizzare. What the heck? Anyone know why that would happen?

How it works around here is almost anyone's guess, Susan. I've had days where I've commented frequently and had comments, and got squat and other days I've practically done nothing and got over 200. Go figure...! Take them as they come, post, comment, and take the points where and when you can get them.
Hi, Susan. I don't think the points post as fast as as we blog.
In 36 hours I figured I was on and off 24 hours here at Gather.
I looked and mini-commented a lot of photos, I didn't really see how
many points I had rung up until the net day.....1,000 points in 24 hours.
But that kind of made my wife jealous,,,,she wanted to know where the hole was on the computer.

Wow, that is a lot for that period of time. I keep a daily log of points, but I don't keep track of the number of comments that I get or give. I think that I would drive myself crazy. (well, crazier:)

That's pretty strange. Well, they do say that they award points based on your value. I've noticed that the FASTER I comment, the more points I seem to get. Like, if I'm flipping through someones pictures and commenting on all of them, I get way more points. It's strange.

I have been noticing currently that the point tabulation is very slow or not existent.

I really just don't understand the whole point thing either... Do you get just as many points for leaving comments as you do for getting comments for an article? Should I be trying to comment more is that how I need to get more points? Cause I certainly can't get that many people to comment on my articles. Do I need to leave longer comments? Shorter but more comments? It's all confusing to me and when someone figures it out for certain I'd love to know!

I really wish they would define how to get points better. All the other sites that offer points at least tell you what you get points for and how many you get for each thing. I think they don't let us know, so that they can change it at any time or stop giving points altogether for the most part.

I just plain give up! I was getting 100 points each day no problem and now it takes me several to get through 100! Ever since that upgrade. I'm just taking the points as a bonus now instead of trying to reach cash status (which is where I was headed until they slowed the point system down)!

Do we have a place on the site where we can offer our suggestions and comments besides in articles?I'm assuming we dont because they all appear to be in the form of an article.
I say we all attract a new tab, or even a new group where we all just post our opinions/comments and suggestions on how to improve the site. After all there would'nt be a site without us....Agree???

I'm lucky if I get a point a day I think I commented over 50 times today and still stuck with the same amount of points I just dont get it

It's like a Christmas present. If we don't know what it is.We either get pleasently surprised or rather disapointed.
That's a good question. I agree that it would be much better to have some sort of FAQ that explains what points are given for and how many. Otherwise, I can see how it could be easy for people to give up and leave, with the idea that Gather is just one more of those bloodsucking, money hungry tech companies that are just "toying" with folks. I'm not saying that's what they are; I haven't been around long enough to have an opinion as to what they are or are not doing. I would just hate to see them get that kind of reputation.
