Finally old enough to attend a concert alone, I could have picked anyone I wanted to see. Artist after artist made their appearance at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in the small town of Ledyard, yet I waited. This was special, after all, and there would be no wasting my "coming of age" moment on anything less than the best.
Then I saw it, "Billy Ray Cyrus Appearing!" Yes, this was meant to be. The man who kept me smiling and singing when times were rough, the man who inspired me to take up country line dancing lessons just to learn the "Achy Breaky"; this was a man worth giving my moment to.
I sat by myself in the huge arena, surrounded by hundreds of fans, yet I felt like he was singing for me, alone. This is what memories are made of. It is difficult to express in so few words what that moment meant and still means to me, I can only say that it is one I cherish.
An autographed guitar from the man himself, Mr. Billy Ray Cyrus, would be a wonderful keepsake and memento of that precious time in my life. Win or lose in this competition, I will never forget.
