So that I don't confuse anyone, yes you can, if you pick your chocolate carefully!
There are companies selling products on the market now that are genuinely careful about the way they prepare their chocolate products. If you search them out you will find that even the sugars that they use in preparing these chocolates are processed by the sun, not boiled, just like the cocoa beans. What is surprising about this is that the prices are pretty close to the same as any other high quality chocolate products.
It is always best if you are able to prepare your own chocolate, unfortunately I am not able to grow my own cocoa bushes, but most health food stores offer organic quality cocoa products. If you are not able to find them in your area there are many sites that will ship them to you.
My sister and I are hooked on a product that is just dried cocoa beans. You can soak them and add them to favorite recipes or just grind them into cocoa powder.
If you are truly a chocoholic you will eat the beans by themselves, I love them. I think I like them even more when they have been soaked in water overnight. It doesn't take many to curb your appetite for chocolate, it is like eating a very rich chocolate desert. Eating 3 - 5 beans can be very satisfying.
If you are able too and like deep dark chocolate a lot, give yourself a treat and try some for yourself. I am so happy that I did!
