I did, and guess what I found?
Well, no, I didn't exactly check out my real name.
But I did it with the pen name I write under for LoveStruck Books. My pen name is a mixture of the name of my second son and a name I just happen to like. Erin Patrick.
So what did I find?
There is another person writing under the same name.
I was devastated until I realized my stuff was on the first page to. I had to scroll down to the third or fourth listing, but then I found my web site and my blog. As well as an old livejournal blog I used to write. I deleted that. References to me--Erin Patrick--came in the form of a few other places, too.
I guess I can live with that.
This other author writes stories based on the sea and boats, as far as I can tell. I'm not sure if the person is a male or female. Couldn't Erin be a male name also? I didn't really check it out that closely. (I'll probably do that next time I google my writing name. From one author to another.)
Now why did I decide to google my pen name now?
A friend from one of my yahoo groups wrote she checked out her name and came up with a bunch of hits. I was curious.
Now I'm wondering what will happen if I check my real name.
Hey, why don't you give it a try and let me know what happened?

Yicks!
But my website did show up on the first page of the Google search and Yahoo.
I guess I can live with that.
