I have noticed that this group is severly lacking articles, and considering I haven't yet put my thought of the time-jump in the manga anywhere, this would be the best place to do so.
In terms of how the transition flows from Naruto part one to the time-jump, I found it to be rather blunt. Unlike the anime that filled in the space with several (hundred) episodes, it just jumped right into the action. It ended up making me feel as if I was lacking in some major character development.
That is not to say the plot was not well covered, because it was. However, it is hard to deny that jumping into the middle of something like a two year time jump can end up leaving some readers disappointed and possibly confused.
For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, don't worry too much. Viz has announced a project called Naruto Nation. This project will start in August, in which Viz will produce three volumes of Naruto per month up until December. This means all of you English readers will experience the time jump come mid January or possibly February.
