Charlotte, my last piece of Charlie

My dog Charlie died last October but he managed to leave me something to remind me of him. Before Charlie died, the little devil managed to get one of my other dogs(Jessica) pregnant. I had been very good at keeping him apart from her as we didn't have the money to get him fixed yet. Well, I screwed up and he got her pregnant. I knew she was pregnant shortly after Charlie died. I remember hoping that she would have a puppy that looked like Charlie but then again I was hoping not as I didn't want a reminder of him. Well, Jessica gave birth to two puppies on November 26th. One died shortly after birth and yep, you guessed it, one looked exactly like Charlie even the white spot on her chest. It made me happy as now I have one last piece of Charlie. But as fate would have it, she was not your normal puppy. The vet said she had a condition called "Swimmer Puppy". She could not walk but she used a swimming like action to get around. Through lots of exercises and special handmade equipment, we taught her how to walk. She can never replace Charlie but don't tell her that. She acts just like him. She follows me everywhere and lays at my side at all times. I sometimes feel that Charlie left her for me on purpose, so I wouldn't feel so all alone. I believe that Charlie lives on through her.
