When we look up in the sky
to see the lovely moon
Did you ever wonder why
some of it is gone so soon
Well, the part that is so shiny
The silvery part you see
Is because of dandelions maturing
Those planted there by me
Then as they keep on growing
We see more silver there each night
My dandelions are multiplying
The rate is about just right
Because when those turning silver
blow into the moon's atmosphere
The immediately replant themselves
To keep the balance there
So The only time you don't see silver
Is when it is in full eclipse
That doesn't happen often
I really know some tricks
I keep the moon supplied
With all the dandelion seeds
Be careful when you see them
and sometimes call them weeds
For they are replacing cheese
up there on the lovely moon
lighter than cows transported
I am really glad to please
I am conserving energy
By promoting this change up there
And if we get to visit it
Giving you better smelling air
The Dandelion Queen

"Lighter than cows transported"--hee hee hee!
Yes, I'd rather be on a dandelion moon than a stinky cheese moon.....!
QUEEN of Gather! :-))
Cute poem, Elsie! Have you been hitting the dandelion wine again? lol
And hope you had a great day and wonderful tomorrow!
To keep the dandelions at bay
Seems yards and parks are overrun
By this weed that causes no harm
So friends and neighbors grab your spades
As do dig out the roots most of the day
And let other chores wait until each seed
Of the dandelion is bagged and sent to Albany
I want to spoon 'til my honey has crooned love's tune
Honeymoon, keep a shinin' in June
Your silvery beams will bring love's dreams
We'll be cuddling soon by the light of the silvery moon
This song was composed in 1908 but I forgot by whom.
I know, I know..to the moon :P
The two of you have completely hijacked all the nice dandelions around. I miss having some in my garden. How much for a bunch of the moon-dandelions, Ms. Elsie? Kindly post them.I need some to make a potion to make William stop singing moony songs!
It sounds like William has been hitting the dandelion wine now that his wife has gotten back home.
my day great 'Dandelion Queen' it is very, very
special to this ole gal. As a child I would always
pick the dandelions and make a wish that these
would blow all over the place so we could have
lots of dandelions to pick for Momma to can up.
Not such a bad idea about the moon and the
fluff from those dandelions after all Elsie! I loved
it and I'm waiting for more please? By the light of
the silvery moon, gee whiz Elsie you must be so
special to have William sing such a lovely song
for you, which I used to sing for my Momma back
a few years ago. I should know how that song
came about, when it comes to me I'll let ya know!
Well I had to get up, comb my hair and dress up to keep Donald from flirting today. Heck I even brushed my teeth. LOL . He did say I looked good in my tight fitten jeans today. Lova ya girl.
