Last night whilst I beheld the stars
One stood out as brightly as Mars
Reminded of the star of lore
Forty-seven and forty-four
Reminded of tomorrows' passed
Bright future ahead -- lying in the grass
Ne'er seem to see stars anymore
Except forty-seven and forty-four
A constant smile once was my way
"You ne'er smile anymore," they say
But now I've something to smile again for
Forty-seven and forty-four
Not a dimension, or a rhyme
Simply the right star for this time
It's in the Plan -- bright star o' the heav'ns
Obama's forty-four by forty-seven.

I don't know how to move this to a newer post, but if you go to the earliest page of my images, there's one I think you might get a kick out of....
Oh, and thanks for the compliment!
to look at.
But you almost lost me with the picture of him and Clinton together.
He wouldn't want to lose you, I'll bet. I can just picture his arms around you right now as you try to run off. Come on, now, you know Obama's a divider, no matter who it is, Clintons included. Plus, it is befitting that two Presidential figures pose together. Remember the photo of President Kennedy and Bill Clinton? That's historical -- look at it that way, Lera!
Hey there. Yes, it would be nice if one of his staff were to do that, but the Senator is way too busy for things such as this. Still your thinking about it is treasure enough for me. Thank you, LJ!
I was enthusiastic about Obama once.
The first time I heard him speaking to a crowd, I thought he was the greatest thing since jelly donuts.
The enthusiam's worn off though. Especially since I heard him say that impeaching Bush would be bad for the country.
It was at that point that I realized he was either insane, oblivious, or has already sold his soul.
I'm sure he's not insane, and I know he's not oblivious.
"It's time to turn the page."
Retribution is fine, and yes, there may be a time for trials for war crimes and war criminals, but aren't there far more pressing issues facing this country?
Bush -- for all intents and purposes -- has been already called to book. Warner and Lugar have made that clear, (just in case people weren't paying attention.) He has been called to book and deem irrelevant. Just who is running the show? I dunno. But it ain't Bush anymore.
I believe Senator Obama sees all of this and wants to focus on the major problems, as an effective General does.
Loved the photos, too.
I have been thinking about the need for some impeachments also in the back of my mind, but you bring up a very good point ... the guilty will pay after all one way or another IF God requires. That is good enough for me.
"and I want center, front row seats. I was gratified when Obama commented on his firm Christian beliefs. I already knew it, but there are still those who don't.
Still, as President he realizes he must see to the business of the people, which may be about all of the Iraq/Bush/Cheney (and let's not forget gone-but-not-forgotten), Rumsfield, and the rest of the gang behind these heavy-hand, cold, wicked manipulations.
By the way, CNN -- who hosted the debate -- is reporting that, amongst New Hampshire "undecided" voters that Obama won the debate. Their disclaimer is that this result may not be scientific (a scientific polling) since it was of those in their audience who claimed to be undecided. Very interesting.
As always, thanks for joining the discussion, Jerry!
I'm for Hillary. She has the experience and necessary drive to get the job done. After this loser for the past seven years, I think it's time for that.
Obama was superb. He made his case with grace and style. He is forceful and cares about all of the right issues. I think he needs some more experience which is why I'm not voting for him this time. I'm watching him, however.
There are VERY pressin issues facing us right now; not the least of which is the VERY real prospect of war with Iran! If Bush AND Cheney are not impeached ASAP, we will be in a world of doo-doo. Mark my words.
Yes, there are. Kuchinich wants to impeach both Bush and Cheney. I think that would spark another civil war. Although Americans are disillusioned with Bush, and probably hate Cheney, do you think it's to the point where they/we really want to see another U.S. President indicted? Man, oh man would that stir the fire in the country. Peace and calm. Bush is practically politically castrated already. The ball is in the court of the American people, and with -- I believe -- 18 -- Senate seat coming up in 2008, they know they are on the carpet, the carpet of the American people. Do not believe for one minute they have forgotten the shock of the 2006 elections. Nope, I think the bell has tolled for Mr. Bush.
How did I miss your comment. I guess I'm tired. I won't refer you to "Experience This!" (my article), as I have others. I'll simply say, what's good enough for the Framers is good enough for me. They had loads of experience. Who had more experience, Ben Franklin, or Hillary? Yet, notice ALL of the Framers deliberately CHOSE to not place certain requirements or pre-requisites for President in the Constitution.
That document was meticulously crafted. Could they have placed additional requirements in there? Sure. Why didn't they? They all had the experience, and then some, so why didn't they? Aha! Now that is something to ponder for a minute.
Has anybody else not seen this? This was done
D-E-L-I-B-E-R-A-T-E-L-Y.
I can't get into their minds, but I am sure it was because they didn't want "career politicians" who end up being owned by lobbyists, corporations, banks, and God only knows who else keeping their "career" and raping the "we the people". Is not anyone else seeing this?
America is AWAKE, and this time, Obama will be in the White House because he is not from the old tier of "career politicians" AKA "experienced" I would think Americans would be tired of their "experienced" ones sticking it to them, and obviously, if New Hampshire is any indication, they are.
Joe, I love ya! You are great guy, and may the best candidate win.
May I pick at you a little, Joe, and whisper: but it won't be Hillary ;=)
Thanks, Joe, as always!
That's my point, impeachment would be disastrous. Plus, it would have many Republican up in arms, and possibly Independents and maybe some Democrats. I think it would be very divisive. I believe leaders like Senator Obama see it too.
In a time when this country needs to unite, impeachment would not be an answer.
About the 44 by 47. In January, 2009, Senator Obama will not have yet turned 48 years old. Therefore -- via my assumption -- he shall take office as the 44th President at age 47. That's why I published the poem nearing his birthday, because he turns 46 on August 4, 2007, 47 in 2008, and won't be 48 until August 4, 2009. I hope I explained it clearly enough.
Thanks for the question, Kathleen. Others probably didn't know either, and just didn't ask. :=)
When watching the debates I could clearly see who had their facts together nonetheless, I haven't decide for Senator Obama or against him. What I have managed to do is eliminate some of the candidates quickly from my minds eye on their ability and promise to this great country of ours.
Thanks Nalita!!
I wouldn't, couldn't vote for a candidate based on race or gender, so I feel you. Too many issues are facing the country, the world -- it has got to be the one most qualified to bring this country together again, at least that is what I think.
It won't be Congress, or the Executive Branch, or the Judiciary that creates the kind of changes necessary for this country's upward mobility. No, we have to go back to the very roots...
"We the people..."
In order to get there we need a united, and not a divider. The job that needs to be done can ONLY be done through the unified efforts of..."the people." Any President -- I don't care who they are -- who can accomplish that will accomplish far more than anyone else.
Obama says:
"Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what's needed to be done. Today we are called once more - and it is time for our generation to answer that call....And as people have looked away in disillusionment and frustration, we know what's filled the void. The cynics, and the lobbyists, and the special interests who've turned our government into a game only they can afford to play. They write the checks and you get stuck with the bills, they get the access while you get to write a letter, they think they own this government, but we're here today to take it back. The time for that politics is over. It's time to turn the page....
"That is why this campaign can't only be about me. It must be about us - it must be about what we can do together. This campaign must be the occasion, the vehicle, of your hopes, and your dreams. It will take your time, your energy, and your advice - to push us forward when we're doing right, and to let us know when we're not. This campaign has to be about reclaiming the meaning of citizenship, restoring our sense of common purpose, and realizing that few obstacles can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change."
He recognizes that the problems facing American are too big for 535+, or 9 "Supremes", or 1 Oval room resident. He recognizes, as do I, that Americans have to engage, and participate THIS TIME. This thing has gotten too big, and too out of control.
No more time to sit with the remote control in your hand -- NOPE. If you want change, DO SOMETHING. He is WILLING to work with whomever it takes to bring about that change.
I'm done.
Very nice poem and very nice comments following.
That is funny from the kid "Joe - pay attention!" I am much older, but the kid is right, Joe, I respectfully submit to you that due attention is in order.
