I dont think its a good idea to tell people to play anything for money online. That can lead to some terrible things. There are plenty of sites where you can play poker, and all kinds of games for FREE. Yahoo has pretty good graphics, although some of the people there are vicious knids. Pogo is my favortie. You can win jackpots (up to 5k) and prizes, (I once won a 25$ gift card from Target.)
Pogo has a lot of nice, gentle players. I used to play every day until I started writing and reading on gather. I need to go back, it was good therapy and kept my mind agile. (therapy being kicking some butt in spades and dominos)
In this day and age, where it seems everyone has their hand in our pockets, we should be leading our friends to fun, free games with less intense players.
But thats just the way I see it. Not a bad write Leanne...take care....t
It's a good piece, well-written and well-researched. I play poker and have played for money in some casinos. Your advice on how to learn is good and I agree with your suggested ways. Learning online for free and using pc games at home to learn are very effective.
Some minor knits: In the 3rd para you refer to Playstation and X-box. there are some extra words there.
Later on you state in one sentence "realize are" and it needs to be "realize is".
In the 5th para you use "differently" in the middle of a sentence and it should be just plain "different".
At the end you say poker is 50% skill and 50% luck. I'm not sure this can be said altho I'm not sure it's incorrect. I have seen some very skilled players take home al the money and they got poor cards all night. I think skill is more than 50% of one's success.
