Today the British Broadcasting service showed a film documenting the transport out of Austria
and Germany of Jewish children to England during the late 1930's when the Nazis came to power in Germany and Austria.
The documents shows the actions of the Nazis once they had come to power and that yes,
the world , the western world that is , was horrified.
England's parliment gathered and had passed a decision to allow Jewish children into England.
At the same time the U.S.A.'s senate had also gathered to discuss a similar solution to the problem;
the jews were being physically abused, their property taken away, their livelihood taken away ,
the children were not allowed to attend school,
let us not forget the amount of Jewish immigrants that had escaped Russia just around the turn of the century, so there were plenty of local American Jews to argue the case
however the senate had rejected the plan to allow a transport of Jewish children out of Germany and Austria because they had said taking only the children would be "an act against god"..
Just recently i have written about a program i had watched on CNN by Anderson Cooper called
"God's country"..
about how religious the U.S. is becoming.
This is at a time when Europe is becoming less and less Christian and more and more people declare they have no defined belief.
I wonder now how many excuses have been made and will be made in the name of God.
Having said all that i know what a role the U.S.A. played in releasing the last victims of the concentration camps in Europe,
and i know that the U.S. has been also a friend to the Jewish state however considering how many talented and bright Jewish people live in the U.S.A. i wonder why their voice is not
heard as much as i would have thought.
The American Jews have led the civil rights movement and the struggel against inequality and racism,
i wonder where are they now?
Nowadays that it seems more and more wars are fought in the name of God,
does it really matter what the name of that God is, whether it is a Moslem god or a Christian god?
And why isn't anyone asking the obvious question
does God even want people to die for any cause at all?
Is there a god to justify any death at all?
What is against god anyway?
Is there a personal god?
one that is kept in a drawer and taken out for political reasons ?
Does religion mean knowing exactly what god means?
Is god an explanation of what is and what is not against nature?
or is it just an excuse to have the power to decide what one should do and what one should not?

The Yeshiva I work in (part time) sent many buses to Washington DC so the students could participate in a protest about the conditions in Darfur.
There's still activism.
the holocaust musuem in Washington has had an exhibition about Darfur..
i just wonder why the jewish voice is not heard as much in politics whereas in entertainment it is very significant.
i wonder if there is still a barrier that prevents the Jewish voice to be heard or are they feeling they need to lay low for some reason.
i just thought that may be a good source to balance the extreme right.
In the US people hate in the name of God - because their Bible tells them so - seems the acts and behaviour of their Saviour Jesus means nothing, they don't act like him at all.
