Yes this has happened to me...are you low blood sugar? or perhaps not getting enough sleep? These are two reasons why I would have attributed this happening but it could be something different for you.

Esther,

I don't have issues with blood sugar, but definitely have had some sleep issues. I am doing trauma work, which causes some sleep disturbances, including nightmares. Scattered kind of sums up the work I have been doing, hence the exhaustion.

I wouldn't know, Sue, there isn't a poetic bone in my body. I, also, rarely read poetry...but, I read yours'...good stuff. I assure you your' exhaustion was well worth it. 10!

Scully's back. Good to see the Icon I knew. Anyways, I certainly did read your poem last night. Hey, I find myself wanting to take a good nap after draining my mind from all the different characters doing their things in my head which I later transfer to writing. You know being a writer is a mental workout. So fret not my Gather buddy, continue on with your poems and poetry, we are ready for more!!!

when i was in rehabilitation every time i did a counseling sesion i would be emotionaly drained and exhausted and would need 4 hours sleep

Anything that takes into account our emotions can be so draining that we're emotionally exhausted afterwards. It's happened to me many times, and not just from writing.

Sometime's it's like that, I think. You've poured so much emotion into it, and crafted it till it's just right. Leaves you empty till you've rested and let other emotions bubble back to the surface.

I have been emotionally exhausted before, I also sleep when I get really stressed - so both ends of the emotional spectrum seem to wear me out...

My heavy dark poetry tears me a part. Some of it I have pulled from Gather and dumped it forever. Not sure if that is wise. But for now, for me, it has served its purpose. It gave me quiet, it gave me peace
