WEEK # 15
My name is Allison.
I allegedly own an alligator.
I keep him in a stall in the mall,
except for the Fall of the year.
That’s when I give my friend a call.
My name is Allie.
I’m a friend of Allisons’.
Every Fall when she calls I run to the stall in the mall,
to get her pet alligator.
Together, Allie and Allison took time to recall,
the funniest time of all,
when Allen the alligator escaped,
from his stall in the mall.
He crawled and swished his tail from wall to wall,
making all the people fall, allowing Allen clear passage to the food court.
Then, in an instant, Allen ate all the *alloo-pies allotted for sale;
turned and crawled over an overturned bottle of *allspice.
Unbeknownst to either Allie or Allison,
Allen was allergic to allspice -
but all fears were allayed of Allens’ demise,
as he returned to his stall in the mall.
My name is *Allegro, and I just told a tall tale
Of Allison, Allie, and Allen the alligator,
that never lived in a stall in the mall - at all!
~~~~~~~~~~
*alloo-pies; Caribbean fried pastry stuffed with mashed potato: a fried pastry stuffed with mashed potatoes and served with chutney
*allspice; cooking spice: the ground dried berries of the allspice tree, used as a spice
*Allegro; quickly: at a quick and lively tempo
