The hall for the James V. Kavanaugh Council of the Knights of Columbus (#5293) is a relatively small concrete building located among residential houses in Mastic, New York on the south eastern portion of Long Island. Here the men of the council and the ladies of the Columbiettes hold business and social meetings and run affairs that are open to both the members and the general public as well.

Over the years the council has made considerable effort to design the interior to be visually pleasing and efficient. Recently they have started on the outside of the simple plastered structure, putting a series of paintings on the wall in the style of frescos. The irony of these paintings is not apparent, but technically they are on the outside of the building looking in, yet they look like they are on the inside of the building looking out.
