Gift Wrapping

GiftWrapping

 

 The gift box beautifully wrapped

            leaps out to catch the eye

                        and draws to the magic

wrapping around mysterious box

 

How beautiful the wrapping

            that shines like diamonds

                        glows as rubies and for it

                                    songs of praise are sung

 

Cannot see past the magic wrapping

            though it quickly fades with time

                        then can but brush away the dust

                                    only smooth the creases and wrinkles out

 

Too blinded by the worthless body wrapping

            cannot bear to let it be undone

                        to open the treasure box therein

                                    thus see not God's Light shining within

A lovely poem that touches on such an important issue. So often our bodies (and minds) wrap and hide our inner truth. Only in bringing the inner self to the light and loving and accepting what we find within (all those repressed griefs and guilts) can our inner beauty reflect that of God.

I think of the hadith qudsi, "I was a Hidden Treasure, who created the world to make myself known."

Deeply insightful, the way you portray humankind's attention to the 'appearances' of religious or spiritual practice, from highly excited to bored with the fossil, never giving ourselves a chance to accept the experience contained inside, the Light, the Love, the I AM THAT.

A teaching poem to read several times to ponder the esoteric mystery contained within.

How true that we are taken in by surface appearances. In this fast-paced life and technology-aided times, we tend to make quick, sometimes wrongly guided, impressions. The 'treasure box therein' needs to be unwrapped with utmost care and love..and complete trust.

Using the colours for the title was fun - but also to make a point.

Beryl, thank you for your wise contribution. A Course in Miracles also wisely says: Seek not outside yourself - what you seek is not there! And it goes on to teach that the body is not what we are - spirit is the truth of us.

So much of humanity's attention is focused on a grain of sand or puff of dust as being the truth of what we are, yet the innocence within is the beauty and the truth that shall set us free, doing so when we accept that we are spirit and still us as God created us.

Your lantern is shining brightly this morning in Tampa, Florida....our lost treasure, given away at birth, and found as a young woman, was married yesterday. Though the wrapping is bright...what is within the soul and heart of this young woman is gold. I am so impatient to write the story....but it will have to mull around in my brain for awhile...so many beautiful things have happened over the last few days...many hard to explain...but all will have to wait to be told.

Dear Marianne - when I say that you are your heart, I am saying that you are Love - that love is your very essence. Love cannot be tainted - only a substitute for it can be defiled, and such substitute was never love in the first place but merely a pale imitation of it.

We are indeed forgiven - the mistakes we have made in what we think of as the past have all been overlooked by God. That is to say, God looks beyond the mistakes we make - He looks only at the truth of us, at the loving spirits that He created in His Own likeness. That is why the recognition of original innocence is the truth that shall set you free. Our beliefs have no bearing on this Truth. Rejoice in it, my friend.

Start here, and end there, and let the truth out in the journey.
Indeed we are free, Marianne, because the Son is not apart from the Father. It was the Father Who did the works - Jesus was merely the conduit, as He acknowledged. And Jesus taught the message of Love - the New Covenant. Innocence is the condition of Love as God created it.

My friend, we don't really disagree. Our interpretations are a tad different.
