I would say Powell for number one and Rumsfeld for number two. Both are too grammatically correct for GW.

Well, if Powell is one of the two, his quote is the first one. He knew that both the Norther and Southern Parts of Iraq were being denied to Hussein. However he still may have said the second, except I don't believe he was so focused on the Schism between Shia and Sunni.

I would not believe that GW Bush said the second, or the first for that matter, since his objective was to invade Iraq, same is true of Rumsfeld. I would guess that the most likely person is Condi Rice in her role as National Security Adviser.

It was easy to determine that neither one was W....both sounded intelligent, well thought out and excellent pronunciation as well as enunciation. I think that would also eliminate Rumsfeld. So, we know Powell is one of them...I'm guessing the first. Can't be Rice...she hasn't changed positions that many times since 2001...has she? Sheesh! I don't know...but I like this game! Good job, Doyle.

The interesting thing about these two people was that they were the two prongs of the US Foreign Policy Diplomacy and Intelligence and, arguably, they should have been the two most considered and advised recommendations in the POTUS decision making on the topic.

Not quite Gayle . . . taught Government after the B.A. from State . . . we couldn't call it Science because Cal. State claims Government is NOT a science. I enjoy intellectually stimulating conversation but here there is no real opposition . . . just ditto heads repeating the same drivel over and over . . . :)
