I love the idea. It would end the illegal alien debate; they would all be legal citizens. We would have access the oil fields, which in theory would lower gas prices. It would be easier to confront the Drug Lords if the DEA could more easly cross the border and inforce our laws.....but mostly it would force the cheap-skate companies who took their factories and the jobs to Mexico for cheap labor to pony up to the same wage and benefits standards that they ran away from...where is the negative?

I believe it will happen, along with Canada. Or does Britain still have a stronghold there? They're still reeling over that last war -- the war of 1812.

Let's open up all the prisons too. Has anyone that thinks this is a good idea ever lived in a drug lord controlled city? Are there good people there ...yup. BUT there is also A LOT of bad. Are you that blind or that insulated? Not if they ALL come to your town!

Interesting Vicki, Maybe we should threaten Mexico with this annexation theory.
If they don't keep their drugs, contraband, diseases, and people from coming over here.........WE WILL ANNEX THEM!!!!! Good article.

It is an idea, although I am not sure how good of an idea it is. I like Mexicans and have many Mexican friends and I love the Spanish language. I would also love to visit Mexico but not under current Mexican rule. Not sure I want the bad parts of Mexico brought to the US though--the drugs and corruption and violence. To be honost, I am afraid to go to Mexico except to the tourist areas. My Mexican friends have told me not to wander around Mexico without a tour group or Mexican friends who have family there.

If we annexed them, then they'd all become citizens (instant total Amnesty) and
they could ALL move here, take our jobs, reduce our wages, overconsume our oil and fresh water, clog our highways, schools, prisons, etc. etc.
How about if we just deliver a strong message to them. Like with hundreds of
warships and aircraft carriers along their shores. No response to this ? Then we seize their Gulf coast oil fields and their gold/silver mines on the Mexican/US border.
